Product Applications & Controls R&D > Loads & Control Module > LaC Onshore Product Response

The Loads & Control organization, part of Product Solutions & Integration, is responsible for designing and optimizing Vestas' products for optimal performance, loads, and control strategies to design product responses to market roadmap requirements. This involves translating product roadmap into module requirements with full value chain integration.

Key Responsibilities

  1. As a Lead Engineer, you will handle the technical aspects of Loads and Control development for a specific product from feasibility to full validation and certification.
  2. You will balance the trade-offs between power production and loading in close cooperation with internal stakeholders.
  3. You will be responsible for life-cycle optimization for legacy and ongoing products through learning from fleet experience.
  4. You will develop and validate wind turbine aeroelastic models.
  5. You will conduct test and integration of innovative technologies into new products.
  6. You will calculate design loads, power performance, and noise levels for internal and external stakeholders.
  7. You will guide the certification process of wind turbines, including performing the design loads verification test campaign on prototype wind turbines.
  8. You will guide and mentor engineers.

Qualifications

  1. A Ph.D. or M.Sc. in structural, civil, wind, mechanical, control, or mechatronic engineering.
  2. Minimum of 4-7 years of experience within the wind industry.
  3. Proven history in running wind turbine product development from a load and control perspective.
  4. Good competencies within innovative simulation of mechanical systems.
  5. Experience or knowledge of aeroelastic tools such as Flex5, Bladed, or HAWC2.
  6. Programming experience (e.g., in Matlab).
  7. Knowledge of control of mechanical systems.
  8. Project management certification can add value.
