Job Description

As a Business Intelligence Specialist at Halma plc, you will play a crucial role in designing and building BI solutions using data analysis and visualization tools like Power BI, Tableau, or QlikView. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and developing BI solutions to transform raw data into actionable insights
  • Analyzing data using various tools and techniques
  • Creating reports, dashboards, and visualizations to present findings

In addition, you will collaborate with developers and data architects to design and implement database schemas, tables, indexes, and views, ensuring efficient data storage, retrieval, and manipulation.

You will also define data migration strategies and solution designs using ETL methodology, ensuring data consistency, security, and performance during migrations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer, maintain, and optimize SQL database systems for high availability, reliability, and performance
  • Monitor database performance, conducting regular tuning and optimization activities to enhance efficiency and responsiveness
  • Install, configure, and upgrade database software and related tools
  • Perform database archives, backups, disaster recovery planning, and data replication to minimize downtime and data loss
  • Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, including connectivity problems, performance bottlenecks, and data corruption
  • Implement database monitoring solutions to proactively identify and address performance issues and resource constraints
  • Automate routine database administration tasks using scripting languages and automation tools

Furthermore, you will assess current and future database capacity requirements, planning for scalability and growth, and recommending hardware and software upgrades and infrastructure changes to support increasing data volumes and user loads.

Requirements
  • 9-12 years of experience as a Report Writer/BI Developer
  • Proven experience as a Database Administrator with a focus on both SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Redis)
  • Experience with database administration, modeling, and visualization tools
  • Proficiency in scripting languages for automation and task scheduling
  • Strong proficiency in SQL query language and database performance tuning
  • Familiarity with database security best practices and compliance standards

We require a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

The estimated salary for this position is £80,000 - £110,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
