Software Engineering Advisor Position Overview:
This is a Band 4 Contributor Career Track Role in our Mainframe PBM Technology organization. We are looking for an experienced engineer with strong knowledge of Mainframe COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, and Teradata. This role provides counsel and advice to top management on significant engineering matters, often requiring coordination between several PBM teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Development: Be hands-on in designing and developing robust solutions to hard problems, considering scale, security, reliability, and cost.
- Solution Support: Support other product delivery partners in the successful build, test, and release of solutions.
- Agile Methodologies: Work on a development team using agile methodologies, including Scrum Master, Product, QA, and Developers.
- Business Understanding: Understand the Business and the Application Architecture End to End.
- Problem Solving: Solve problems by crafting software solutions using maintainable and modular code.
- Team Leadership: Participate & potentially lead daily team standup meetings, give and receive updates on the current backlog and challenges, participate in code reviews, ensure Code Quality and Deliverables, provide Impact analysis for new requirements or changes, and be responsible for low-level design with the team.
- Project Management: May lead or manage sizable projects, provide thought leadership and technical expertise across the PBM technology organization, and act in a senior manner, potentially leading scrum teams, being held accountable for projects, and mentoring junior team members.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Mainframe Expertise: Requires strong knowledge of Mainframe COBOL, JCL, CICS, DB2, VSAM, and Teradata.
- Process-Based Solutions: Experience designing and developing process-based solutions or BPM (business process management).
- Technology Skills: Nice to have – Frontend (Web Technologies – React, Angular...Etc...) and Rest services development.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
- Influencing/Negotiation Skills: Strong influencing/negotiation skills.
- Interpersonal/Relationship Skills: Strong interpersonal/relationship skills.
- Time and Project Management Skills: Strong time and project management skills.
- Agile Methodology: Familiarity with agile methodology including SCRUM team leadership.
- Delivery Practices: Familiarity with modern delivery practices such as continuous integration, behavior/test driven development, and specification by example.
Salary:$140,000 - $170,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
Location:The Innovation Hub in Hyderabad, India, in a hybrid working model (3 days WFO and 2 days WAH).
