Job Title: Data Platform Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Platform Engineer to join our dynamic team at BlackLine. As a Data Platform Engineer, you will design, implement, and optimize comprehensive data warehousing solutions on the cloud, maintain robust data systems, and craft and optimize a versatile platform that will empower our organization to operate efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and manage scalable data pipelines to ingest, process, and store large volumes of data.
  • Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security across all data pipelines.
  • Develop and maintain a unified data platform that integrates diverse data sources and tools, ensuring seamless data flow and accessibility.
  • Create a platform that supports both real-time and batch processing needs of the organization.
  • Oversee data modeling, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, and data warehousing solutions.
  • Optimize database performance and manage data storage and retrieval efficiently.
  • Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand their data needs and provide actionable insights and solutions.
  • Collaborate with software engineers and IT teams to ensure platform integration and functionality.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve the data platform's architecture, scalability, and performance.
  • Implement new technologies and tools to enhance the platform's capabilities.
  • Relentless focus towards improvements in CI / CD processes and platform stability and scale.
  • Develop comprehensive documentation for data processes, platform architecture, and best practices.
  • Provide training and support to team members on using the data platform effectively.
  • Ensure data compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Implement and enforce data security measures to protect sensitive information.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field; master's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Data Platform Administrator, Platform Architect, or similar role.
  • Experience of 3yrs-5yrs with big data technologies Hadoop, Spark) and cloud platforms AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Knowledge of tools like Terraform is preferred.
  • Proficiency with either Google BigQuery and/or Snowflake preferred.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Python, and other data processing languages and tools.
  • Tableau administration is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing solutions and ETL processes.
  • Knowledge of data modeling, database design, and data integration.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
