Role: Finance Controller

Location: Bangalore

About The Role

Financial Controller will be responsible to consolidate, track, report and analyze financial data (budgets, income statement forecasts etc.) considering goals and financial standing for a strategic business. The role oversees corporate finance & business finance disciplines within the company.

As a Financial Controller, you would be assisting Finance Advisory towards Business growth, Financial health, and complete accounting.


Responsibilities:


Financial Operations & Compliance:

  • Oversee Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), regulatory compliance, payments, and business accounting.
  • Manage IT process controls and ensure the integrity of financial systems.

ERP & Systems Management:

  • Set up or revamp ERP and accounting systems to streamline operations.

Financial Reporting & Audit:

  • Finalize trial balance, profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow for monthly reporting and statutory audits.
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

  • Lead regular forecasting processes including rolling forecasts, weekly forecasts, and budget planning.
  • Review key drivers, risks, and opportunities to support the preparation of divisional reporting packs.
  • Ensure accurate and insightful management reporting for Business Unit (BU) leads and the management team.

Commercial Business Partner Support:

  • Lead the team to ensure accurate data and KPI reporting for performance reviews.
  • Serve as the finance lead for market bids, including preparing financials, reviewing financial risks, and benchmarking costs/margins.
  • Collaborate with the Managing Director, Sales, and Commercial teams to prepare financial forecasts and budgets.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify areas for improvement in financial analysis, forecasting, and commercial support.
  • Drive improvements in efficiency, streamline processes, and reduce manual work through automation and digitization.

Bookkeeping & Cash Flow Management:

  • Manage all accounting operations including billing, AR, AP, general ledger (GL), cost accounting, and revenue recognition.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate financial close process, including reconciliations and comprehensive analysis.

Financial Analysis & Reporting:

  • Create monthly and annual reports to identify trends and financial forecasts.
  • Regularly review financial plans and budgets to identify variances and implement corrective actions.

HR & Payroll Management:

  • Own and manage health insurance, payroll, provident fund (PF), and related enrolments for new hires in the India entity.
  • Collaborate with HR to define roles, performance monitoring frameworks, and conduct regular performance reviews.

Tax Compliance:

  • Lead the direct and indirect tax compliance, including TDS deductions, GST filing, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Set up controls monitoring programs for payment business transactions.

Internal Controls & SOP Development:

  • Develop and maintain effective internal controls, accounting systems, and policies.
  • Implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for various business processes, ensuring stakeholder alignment and compliance.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Supervise and manage the finance department staff, including accountants, bookkeepers, and financial assistants.
  • Foster team development through continuous performance monitoring and feedback.


Qualifications:


Education & Experience:

  • Chartered Accountant (CA) with 5+ years of experience in MNCs, Big 4 firms, or early-stage startups.
  • Strong background in accounting and finance with progressively increasing responsibilities.

Technical Skills:

  • In-depth understanding of India GAAP and regulatory reporting.
  • Proficiency in Excel, ERP systems, QuickBooks, and business reporting tools for accounting, data modeling, financial analysis, and visualization.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and make effective, timely decisions in a complex global market.
