SDE I / II / III Performance Optimization Engineer


About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Performance Optimization Engineer to join our engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for optimizing high-traffic distributed systems, implementing performance monitoring solutions, and leading technical initiatives to improve system efficiency and scalability.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement performance optimization strategies for large-scale Python applications processing millions of daily requests
  • Profile, debug, and optimize complex distributed systems to reduce P95 / P99 latency and improve resource utilization
  • Develop and maintain custom profiling and monitoring tools to identify performance bottlenecks
  • Optimize database queries, caching strategies, and application architecture for maximum efficiency
  • Lead technical initiatives to reduce cloud infrastructure costs through performance improvements
  • Mentor junior engineers on performance optimization best practices and techniques
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement scalable solutions
  • Design and implement automated performance testing frameworks
  • Create and maintain documentation for performance optimization processes and tools


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s / Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field / B.Tech / M.Tech in Computer Science, Computer Engineering
  • 2-8 years of experience in software engineering with focus on performance optimization
  • Expert-level proficiency in Python and experience with modern Python frameworks (Django, Flask, FastAPI)
  • Strong experience with performance profiling tools (cProfile, line_profiler, memory_profiler)
  • Deep understanding of distributed systems and microservices architecture
  • Extensive experience with MySQL or similar databases and query optimization
  • Proficiency with monitoring tools such as New Relic, Datadog, Prometheus, and Grafana
  • Strong background in AWS / GCP / Azure cloud infrastructure and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience with caching technologies (Redis, Memcached)
  • Proven track record of reducing system latency and improving application performance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with additional programming languages such as Go or Rust
  • Contributions to open-source performance optimization tools
  • Experience giving technical talks or publishing technical content
  • Background in async programming and concurrent systems
  • Experience with database sharding and distributed caching systems

This position is 100% remote with expected overlap with US Engineering Leadership during US EST / PST hours.
