Job description:
● Develop the brand's overall design direction and strategy, ensuring that it aligns with the
brand's vision and target market.
● Oversee the design process, make strategic decisions about product development and
direction.
● Involve in all aspects of the design process, sourcing materials, from concept and
sketching to fabric selection and construction techniques.
● Lead and manage a team of designers, pattern makers, and other creatives, providing
guidance and direction throughout the design process.
● Create and sketch new designs, incorporating feedback and insights from the team and
other stakeholders.
● Source materials and fabrics, working with vendors and suppliers to ensure high quality
and timely delivery.
● Attend fashion shows, trade shows, and other industry events to stay up-to-date on trends
and industry developments.
● Collaborate with other designers and industry professionals to bring new ideas and
perspectives to the brand's design process.
● Oversee the production process, ensuring that designs are executed with precision and
attention to detail.
● Manage the design team's budget and resources, ensuring that projects are completed on
time and within budget.
● Continuously evaluate and improve the brand's design process, identifying opportunities
for innovation and growth.
● Demonstrated expertise in understanding and analyzing global market trends to inform
textile design decisions.
● Experience working with international vendors and suppliers to source materials and
develop textile products for a global market.
● Strong knowledge of international regulations and standards for textile production and
ability to ensure compliance with these regulations.
● Proven ability to lead and mentor a team of textile designers to create innovative designs
that appeal to a diverse range of international customers.
Skills:
● The ability to generate innovative and original design concepts that align with the brand's
vision and target market.
● A strong understanding of garment construction, pattern making, and textile selection, as
well as proficiency in design software and tools.
● The ability to lead and manage a team of designers and creatives, providing guidance and
direction throughout the design process.
● Effective communication skills to clearly convey design concepts, provide feedback, and
collaborate with other teams.
● Stay up-to-date with the latest trends, industry developments, and consumer preferences,
and incorporate them into design concepts.
● The ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, while keeping track of budgets and
resources.
● A keen eye for detail and quality control to ensure that designs are executed with
precision and meet brand standards.
● The ability to adapt to changing circumstances and pivot designs as necessary to meet
changing consumer preferences or market conditions.
● The ability to identify and address design challenges and issues as they arise.
● A strong understanding of the business side of fashion, including market trends, pricing,
and profit margins.
● A strong portfolio of previous work showcasing a range of design skills, styles, and
techniques.
● Proficiency in design software and tools, such as Adobe Creative Suite, as well as a deep
understanding of garment construction, pattern making, and textile selection.
Qualifications:
Degree in fashion design or a textile design, as well as extensive experience in the fashion
industry. Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills are also essential for success
in this role.
