System Configuration and Performance SpecialistThis role involves the configuration, performance tuning, security, automation, and troubleshooting of z/OS systems to ensure high availability and optimal performance.Key Responsibilities:Configuration and MaintenanceInstall, upgrade, configure, and maintain z/OS and subsystems (JES2, RACF, CICS, DB2, IMS).Manage system updates, PTFs, APARs using SMP/E.Ensure system stability and compatibility across releases.Performance OptimizationMonitor and optimize CPU, memory, and I/O performance.Tune WLM, Sysplex, and critical components.Conduct capacity planning and recommend hardware upgrades.Security AdministrationAdminister RACF and enforce security policies.Ensure compliance with SOX, PCI-DSS, HIPAA.Apply security patches and mitigate vulnerabilities.Storage ManagementManage DFSMS, VSAM, HSM, and storage tools.Oversee backups, DR, and high-availability solutions.Optimize disk and tape storage usage.Troubleshooting and AutomationDiagnose and resolve system abends and bottlenecks.Analyze dumps, logs, and traces for root cause.Work with IBM support and vendors on complex issues.Automation and EfficiencyDevelop automation using REXX, JCL, CLIST, Ansible.Improve monitoring, job scheduling, and efficiency.Automate repetitive tasks to streamline processes.Business ContinuityImplement and test DR plans for business continuity.Maintain Parallel Sysplex and failover configurations.Knowledge Sharing and MentorshipMaintain technical documentation and best practices.Mentor junior team members and share knowledge.
