Mechnical EngineeringJob DescriptionPosition SummaryThe Associate Staff Engineer is a technical leadership role within a sustaining engineering team who will own, leadand support the end-to-end Design and engineering deliverables and solutions for high-volume medical deviceproducts right from Design and Development to Verification and Validation activities. (S)he, working with the localand global stakeholders, will deliver relevant solutions to new and existing products through design calculations,risk-retirement using first principles engineering, technical analyses and verification of the design. The AssociateStaff Engineer will learn and utilize BD's stage gate Global Product Development System and use DFM/DFSS and/orother relevant engineering tools to deliver high quality, robust, cost effective solutions in partnership with crossfunctionalteams.Educational Background- Full time Degree in a relevant engineering field is required (i.e., Mechanical, Industrial & Production, Chemical,Materials Engineering)- Masters and PhD in Engineering is highly preferred.Professional ExperienceMinimum 12 years of experience in engineering/technical field, with 3 years demonstrated project and teamleadership, preferably in the medical device industry with successful track record of sustaining existing productsand/or driving cost improvement initiatives.Job ResponsibilitiesGeneral Function- Accountable for the technical success of the product and ensures the product solution offerings reflects theagreed upon "must-haves" for commercial success.- Identify the best tools and approaches to effectively solve engineering problems to develop/optimize designs byleveraging appropriate mix of first principles / analytical, computational, and experimental methods.- Practice technical excellence and share best practices and lessons learned across the organization.- Lead and own the design efforts over the continuum of product development, life cycle management, sustenanceengineering and cost improvement initiatives.- Remove obstacles and provide technical direction and mentorship to Design, Development and VerificationValidation Teams.- Develop technical design and / or verification strategy independently or in collaboration with a larger team.- Ensure design control best practices with compliance to BD quality policies/procedures and applicable regulatoryrequirements are adopted across projects.- Own the design and/ or verification deliverables of the project assigned.- Develop, verify and validate test methods and prototypes as needed.- Execute Risk Management activities to ensure that design and process shortcomings are identified andappropriately addressed.- Optimize product design, material selection, product features, process design and human factors based on theproject needs.- Ensure compliance with all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures.- Drive the right culture in the organization in line with BD Values.Project management- Own the technical plan, execution and effectively manage technical risks. Ensure high quality solutions areprovided to the customers in a timely manner.Persuasive Communication- Clear and effective communication of technical solutions / risks across all levels of the organization- Escalate issues for awareness, create and drive a resolution plan- Drive cross functional (i.e., Marketing, Quality, Supply chain, Regulatory, Manufacturing Technology, Operations,Cytotoxicity, Sterilization teams etc.) technical decision making in areas of uncertainty or ambiguity- Uses influential leadership to resolve project-related issues/challengesOrganizational LeadershipQuality systems processes: Implement best practices of quality systems processes including design controls andchange control.Technology transfer: Ensure efficient and effective transition from research to development to globalmanufacturing locations.Required SkillsOptional SkillsPrimary Work LocationIND Bengaluru - Technology CampusAdditional LocationsWork Shift
