Key Responsibilities of a Medical Officer: 1. Patient Care: ○ Conducting physical examinations and medical assessments. ○ Diagnosing and treating a wide range of common illnesses, injuries, and conditions. ○ Prescribing medications, treatments, and therapies based on diagnoses. ○ Providing emergency care in urgent situations. 2. Medical Documentation: ○ Maintaining accurate patient records, documenting diagnoses, treatments, and progress. ○ Writing medical reports and providing updates to other healthcare professionals when needed. 3. Preventive Healthcare: ○ Providing health education to patients about disease prevention, healthy lifestyle choices, and managing chronic conditions. ○ Administering vaccinations and screening tests. 4. Supervision and Coordination: ○ Supervising medical and nursing staff in healthcare settings. ○ Coordinating patient care with other specialists, especially for complex or multi -disciplinary cases. ○ Ensuring that medical protocols and guidelines are followed. 5. Emergency and Critical Care: ○ Responding to emergencies, such as accidents, medical crises, or sudden illness. ○ Stabilizing patients before referring them for advanced care, such as to a specialist or for surgery. 6. Administrative Duties: ○ Medical officers may also be involved in administrative duties, such as policy development, patient flow management, or overseeing daily medical operations in healthcare settings.
