You'll be responsible for database administration, focusing on the stability, security, and performance of SQL Server environments across on-premises and Azure platforms.Database Administration:Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases (2016, 2019, 2022, Azure SQL)Manage database provisioning, patching, and lifecycle maintenanceMonitor and optimize system performance, availability, and capacityMaintain secure database configurations, roles, and permissionsPerformance & Optimization:Analyze and optimize T-SQL queries, indexes, and schema designsTroubleshoot locking, blocking, and deadlock issuesImplement proactive monitoring and alertingBackup, Recovery & High Availability:Develop and document backup and recovery proceduresManage HA/DR solutions (Always On Availability Groups, Log Shipping, Replication)Ensure compliance with RPO/RTO requirementsAutomation & Process Improvement:Develop PowerShell and T-SQL scripts for automationContribute to automation initiatives within HaloPSA and Azure DevOpsImprove Managed Services standards and runbooksSupport & Collaboration:Provide expert-level support for critical database incidentsCollaborate with cloud architects, developers, and service desk teamsSupport client onboarding, migrations, and modernization projectsRequirementsFor this challenging position, we seek an experienced professional with advanced knowledge of SQL Server architecture, query optimization, indexing, and performance tuning. Key skills include:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related fieldAt least 3-5 years of experience in SQL Server database administration within enterprise or MSP environmentsStrong experience supporting hybrid environments (on-premises and Azure SQL)Technical Skills:Expertise with SQL Server Agent, SSRS, SSIS, and PowerShell automationStrong understanding of Windows Server administration and Active Directory integrationExperience with Azure SQL, Azure Monitor, and Azure BackupSoft Skills:Analytical and methodical problem-solving approachExcellent communication and documentation skillsAbility to manage multiple client environments and prioritiesStrong sense of ownership, accountability, and teamworkPreferred Certifications:Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator AssociateMicrosoft Certified: SQL Server Database Administrator (MCSA/MCSE)ITIL Foundation or equivalent service management certificationCertifications: Any Microsoft SQL certifications
