Position: Associate Professor Construction

Location: SSPU Kiwale, Pune

Job Responsibilities:

  • Teaching and Instruction:
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in construction engineering, including but not limited to construction management, project scheduling, construction materials, cost estimation, and sustainable construction practices.
  • Develop and deliver course materials, including lectures, assignments, exams, and hands-on projects, to provide a high-quality educational experience for students.
  • Supervise and mentor graduate students on research projects, theses, and dissertations, offering academic and professional guidance.
  • Foster an interactive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration.
  • Lead practical learning experiences such as site visits, laboratory exercises, and industry collaborations.
  • Research and Scholarship:
  • Conduct innovative and impactful research in construction engineering, with areas of focus including construction project management, digital construction, sustainable building technologies, construction safety, or construction materials.
  • Publish research results in peer-reviewed journals, conferences, and other academic outlets.
  • Leadership and Service:
  • Provide leadership in the development of the department’s construction engineering program and contribute to strategic planning efforts.
  • Participate in curriculum development, ensuring the integration of current industry trends and technologies into the curriculum.
  • Engage in departmental, college, and university-wide committees and contribute to academic governance and decision-making.
  • Industry Collaboration and Professional Development:
  • Actively engage with the construction industry and professional organizations to stay updated on industry trends and to promote the department’s visibility.
  • Participate in professional conferences, workshops, and seminars, representing the department and contributing to the advancement of the field.
  • Participate in university and departmental service activities, such as faculty meetings, accreditation processes, and community engagement efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Required:
  • A Ph.D. in Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • A strong record of academic and/or professional achievements in construction engineering, including publications, awards, and industry recognition.
  • At least 6 years of teaching experience in a university setting, including graduate and undergraduate -level courses.
  • Expertise in construction management, project delivery methods, construction materials, or other related areas of construction engineering.
  • Proven ability to conduct independent, funded research and to supervise graduate students and junior faculty.
  • A commitment to fostering an inclusive, diverse, and supportive learning environment for students.
