Enterprise Data Governance SpecialistThe primary goal of this role is to oversee the establishment and governance of our enterprise data catalog using Alation. Ensuring that data assets are easily accessible, reliable, and well-documented for both business and technical users across the organization will be a top priority.Implement and operationalize Alation as the principal data steward.Work collaboratively with data engineering, BI, and business teams to catalog critical datasets, pipelines, reports, dashboards, and metrics.Undertake metadata curation duties, including writing and validating business definitions, technical descriptions, lineage, and usage notes.Profile datasets through SQL analysis to understand structure, quality, and relationships and ensure accurate documentation.Translate complex data logic into clear, business-friendly descriptions to foster data literacy among stakeholders.Requirements:7-10 years of experience in data stewardship, data governance, or data analytics roles.Hands-on experience with Alation or similar enterprise data catalog platforms.Strong SQL skills with the ability to query, analyze, and validate large datasets.Familiarity with ETL/ELT pipelines and data engineering concepts.Key ResponsibilitiesThis position involves overseeing several key responsibilities, including:Developing and maintaining comprehensive metadata standards.Ensuring adherence to data governance policies.Collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize data pipeline performance.Identifying and addressing data quality issues.Providing expertise on data-driven decision-making processes.Skills and QualificationsA successful candidate should possess the following skills and qualifications:Proven track record in data governance and stewardship.Ability to communicate complex technical information effectively.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Capacity to work collaboratively within a team environment.Experience with data visualization tools.Why This Role MattersThis position plays a pivotal role in shaping the organization's data strategy and ensuring its success.
