What we are looking for
Role: SIOPS Junior Server Engineer
Experience Range: 4 – 6 Years
Location: Bangalore/Chennai/Hyderabad/Indore/Pune
Must-Have:
- Knowledge of some combination of server hardware, Cisco UCS, VMWare virtualization, DellEMC vBlock/VxRack/VxRail.
- Knowledge of server operating systems, SAN storage, data center networking and end user computing.
- Experience with Cisco USC Director (UCS-D) and VMWare Site Recovery Manager (SRM)
- Design, architect, and implement robust, scalable compute and storage infrastructure based on project requirements.
- Collaborate with solution architects to ensure infrastructure aligns with overall business and technical objectives.
- Provision and configure physical and virtual servers, ensuring adherence to best practices and security standards.
- Manage virtualization environments (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and containerized workloads using platforms like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Oversee server maintenance, including patching, firmware updates, and hardware replacements.
- Configure and maintain storage solutions (SAN, NAS, DAS), optimizing for performance, capacity, and cost-efficiency.
- Implement data redundancy, backups, and disaster recovery protocols to ensure high availability and data integrity.
- Monitor and manage storage resources to prevent bottlenecks, ensuring efficient data storage and retrieval.
- Incident resolution work in our distributed compute and storage environments.
- Validating the status of a system and may require taking action to resolve. Examples of common incidents include server backup failure alerts, server process in a critical state, server resources (cpu, memory or disk) are overutilized, vCenter failure, disk failure.
- Document automation and deployment processes to ensure knowledge transfer and support scalability.
- Set up and monitor infrastructure performance using tools like Nagios, Zabbix, or Prometheus.
- Conduct root cause analysis and resolve incidents related to server and storage performance, access, or data loss.
- Implement proactive monitoring alerts to detect and resolve issues before they impact operations.
- Ensure infrastructure complies with security policies and industry standards (e.g., NIST, ISO).
- Apply access controls, encryption, and network segmentation to safeguard data and prevent unauthorized access.
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and participate in security audits.
- Forecast server and storage capacity needs based on project and application growth, adjusting resources as needed.
- Optimize infrastructure to improve performance and reduce costs by eliminating unused resources or optimizing resource allocation.
- Maintain detailed documentation of infrastructure configurations, policies, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
- Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for server and storage operations.
- Train junior engineers or other stakeholders on server management best practices and tools.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (network, security, DevOps, application teams) to support project requirements and timelines.
- Assist in evaluating and integrating new tools, technologies, and methodologies to enhance the infrastructure.
- Provide feedback on infrastructure improvements to enhance project delivery and align with organizational goals.

- Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve technical issues
