Job Summary:
De Paul School, Kolkata, is seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Postgraduate Teacher for the Psychology department. The successful candidate will be passionate about guiding students in the study of psychology, offering insights into human behavior, mental processes, and psychological principles. This role requires a qualified educator with a strong foundation in psychology, capable of engaging students at the higher secondary level and fostering a supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching and Curriculum Development :
Teach and deliver engaging lessons in psychology, covering topics such as psychological theories, mental health, cognitive processes, and developmental psychology.
Develop and implement lesson plans that align with CISCE standards, utilizing a variety of teaching methods to engage students in active learning.
Incorporate real-world applications, case studies, and experiential learning to deepen students’ understanding of psychological concepts.
Student Assessment and Individual Support :
Design, administer, and evaluate assignments, exams, and other assessments to gauge students' comprehension and progress.
Provide individualized feedback, support, and additional resources to help students succeed academically and develop critical thinking skills.
Identify and address diverse learning needs, adapting instructional strategies to ensure all students reach their potential.
Classroom Management and Student Engagement :
Create an inclusive, positive, and disciplined classroom environment that promotes student participation and respect.
Engage students in meaningful discussions, critical thinking exercises, and collaborative projects.
Professional Development and Collaboration :
Actively participate in departmental meetings, professional development sessions, and curriculum planning.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to integrate an interdisciplinary approach and maintain a cohesive educational experience for students.
Additional School Participation :
Contribute to school events, parent-teacher meetings, and extra-curricular activities.
Support and mentor students preparing for psychology-related competitions, projects, or exams.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Educational Qualifications :
Master’s degree in Psychology or a closely related field.
B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education) degree is mandatory.
Experience :
Prior experience teaching psychology at the higher secondary level is preferred.
Familiarity with ICSE/ISC curriculum standards is advantageous.
Skills and Competencies :
Strong knowledge of psychological principles and effective teaching strategies.
Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to inspire and connect with students from diverse backgrounds.
Proficiency in digital teaching tools and educational technology.
