Senior Server-Side Engineer

Job DescriptionThe Backend Developer plays a pivotal role in our technology team, responsible for designing and implementing server-side logic, APIs, and database architecture to drive business growth.Develop and maintain server-side application logic using PHP, ensuring the scalability and reliability of the platform.Design, implement, and optimize MariaDB database schemas, queries, and stored procedures to maximize data efficiency.Build and maintain RESTful APIs to support frontend Angular applications and third-party integrations, enhancing user experience and streamlining interactions.Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms, including MFA, SSO via SAML, and role-based access controls, to safeguard sensitive information.Work with Docker containerized environments and maintain application deployment processes, ensuring seamless transitions between development, testing, and production phases.Optimize application performance, database queries, and server-side logic for enhanced scalability, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity.Implement security best practices, including SQL injection prevention, data encryption, and OWASP compliance, to protect against potential threats and vulnerabilities.Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate Angular components with backend services, fostering a cohesive and efficient software ecosystem.Maintain and enhance existing PHP codebase while following modern PHP frameworks and best practices, ensuring the integrity and maintainability of the codebase.Implement error monitoring, logging, and observability using tools like Sentry and CloudWatch, providing real-time insights into system performance and behavior.Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to established standards and guidelines, promoting continuous improvement and excellence.Maintain adherence to security standards, including HIPAA, NIST CSF, and CIS benchmarks, to guarantee the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of sensitive data.Participate in Agile sprints with a 10-week release cycle, working collaboratively to deliver high-quality features and functionality on time and within budget.Required Skills & QualificationsProficiency in PHP programming language, including familiarity with modern frameworks and best practices.Experience with MariaDB database management, including schema design, query optimization, and stored procedure implementation.Strong understanding of RESTful API design, development, and maintenance, as well as experience with frontend Angular applications.Familiarity with secure authentication and authorization mechanisms, including MFA, SSO via SAML, and role-based access controls.Knowledge of Docker containerized environments and application deployment processes, including CI/CD pipelines.Ability to optimize application performance, database queries, and server-side logic for enhanced scalability and reliability.Understanding of security best practices, including SQL injection prevention, data encryption, and OWASP compliance.Experience with collaborative development, including code reviews, pair programming, and agile methodologies.Adherence to established security standards, including HIPAA, NIST CSF, and CIS benchmarks.BenefitsThis role offers a competitive compensation package, including benefits, bonuses, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
