Position/Role: Product Manager (Owner)

Domain in Digital Payments: Payment Modernization, Central Payment Infrastructure implementation / modernization; Payment Overlay / Value added services; Exposure to domestic payments across North America, Europe and Asia, Cross Border Payment (Swift), Payment Hub, Connectivity to central payment infrastructure.

Location: Kolkata

Reports to: Chief of Products

Employment Type: Full-Time


Role Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and high-performing Product Manager to lead and drive the success of one of our premium product offerings targeted for payment modernization, overlay services layer, and connectivity to central payment rails. This role is central to our strategy of winning key opportunities and expanding our market presence in North America, Europe and other global markets, with a significant focus on product differentiation, market positioning, and sales enablement. The Product Manager will take ownership of the entire product lifecycle, from market analysis and feature definition to product sales and channel partner management.


Key Responsibilities:

Market Analysis & Understanding:

Conduct thorough market research to identify trends, customer needs, and competitive landscapes within the digital payments industry.

Analyze market data to identify key opportunities and inform product strategy, ensuring the product remains competitive and aligned with industry developments.

Defining Product Feature Set:

Work closely with customers, sales teams, and engineering to define and prioritize product features that meet market demands and differentiate our offering from competitors.

Translate customer needs and market insights into clear product requirements and specifications.

Product Roadmap Development:

Develop and maintain a comprehensive product roadmap that outlines the strategic direction, key milestones, and delivery timelines.

Ensure the roadmap is aligned with the company’s business objectives and sales targets and communicate it effectively to internal stakeholders.

Product Positioning & Marketing:

Define and articulate the product’s value proposition, differentiators, and positioning within the market.

Collaborate with the marketing team to develop compelling product messaging, sales collateral, and go-to-market strategies.

Lead product launches and marketing campaigns, ensuring they resonate with target audiences and drive market adoption.

Competitive Analysis & Benchmarking:

Continuously monitor and analyze competitor products, identifying strengths, weaknesses, and market positioning.

Benchmark our product against competitors and refine our product strategy and features to maintain a competitive edge.

Use competitive insights to support sales teams in effectively positioning the product during client pitches.

Product Branding:

Develop and refine the product brand identity, ensuring it aligns with the company’s overall brand strategy and resonates with target markets.

Work with the design and marketing teams to ensure consistent and impactful branding across all product-related materials and touchpoints.

Product P&L Management:

Own the product’s P&L, including pricing strategy, cost management, and revenue forecasting.

Make data-driven decisions to optimize product profitability while maintaining market competitiveness.

Track and report on key financial metrics, ensuring the product meets its financial goals.

Product Sales Enablement:

Provide product expertise and support to sales teams, including training, presentations, and client-facing materials.

Partner with the sales team to identify and pursue key opportunities, especially in North America, Europe and other global markets.

Support the sales process by addressing customer queries, conducting demos, and participating in client meetings as needed.

Channel Partner Management:

Develop and manage relationships with key channel partners, ensuring they are equipped to effectively sell and support the product.

Collaborate with partners to identify joint go-to-market strategies and co-marketing opportunities.

Monitor partner performance and provide ongoing support to maximize channel-driven sales.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

Lead cross-functional teams, including engineering, marketing, and sales, to ensure successful product development, launch, and market penetration.

Foster a collaborative environment, encouraging innovation and continuous improvement across all aspects of product management.


Experience:

Must have total work experience of 15+ years, with the last 5+ years in product management and the last 3+ years as product manager, preferably within the digital payments or fintech industry, with a focus on payment modernization.

Must have experience in key market-facing activities such as competitive analysis, engaging with clients during the sales process, sales enablement and sales support, product marketing, and commercial aspects of product management.

Education: Bachelor’s degree mandatory, preferably in Business, or else in Computer Science or Engineering or a related field. An MBA or equivalent advanced degree would be an added advantage.

Industry Knowledge: An understanding of payment modernization, central payment rails, and the competitive landscape in North America and Europe.

Leadership: Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve high performance.

Skills:

Strong strategic thinking and market analysis capabilities, with the ability to translate insights into actionable product strategies.

Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Proven track record of managing the entire product lifecycle, from concept to launch and market success.

Financial acumen, with experience managing product P&L and making data-driven decisions to optimize profitability.

Ability to lead and collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment and achieving shared goals.

Technical Proficiency (desired, not mandatory): Basic understanding of technical tenets of software development. Exposure to Agile Methodology.
