Role Overview

JOAN Digitech is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Web Development Team Lead to spearhead our development projects. This role requires a balance of technical expertise, leadership ability, and a passion for delivering top-notch digital solutions. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working strategically and tactically, ensuring smooth project execution and fostering team growth.


The successful candidate must have extensive experience in WordPress and Shopify development, with a proven track record of building high-performing ecommerce websites. You should be adept at creating bespoke themes, integrating third-party apps, and optimising website performance for a seamless user experience. This is a leadership role requiring proactive management of a talented development team to deliver innovative, user-focused solutions.


Responsibilities


Team Leadership and Collaboration

  • Lead and mentor the development team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, project managers, and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee the end-to-end delivery of web development projects, ensuring they are completed on time and to the highest standards.


Website Development

  • Develop and maintain bespoke Shopify and WordPress websites tailored to client requirements.
  • Ensure seamless integration with Shopify Apps, third-party APIs, and other marketing tools.
  • Debug and optimise existing websites for improved performance, user experience, and SEO.
  • Build responsive, mobile-friendly websites with clean, well-documented code.


Project Management

  • Plan, execute, and monitor development projects using Agile methodologies.
  • Collaborate with UI/UX designers to implement user-centred designs.
  • Allocate resources effectively, balancing priorities and deadlines.


Quality Assurance and Optimization

  • Conduct code reviews and testing to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Regularly update and refine website features, addressing client feedback promptly.
  • Leverage data and analytics to identify improvement areas and implement performance optimisation strategies.


Client Engagement

  • Communicate technical details and project updates to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
  • Provide proactive recommendations for improving client websites and user journeys.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and technologies to deliver cutting-edge solutions.


Key Skills and Qualifications


Technical Expertise

  • Advanced knowledge of WordPress and Shopify development, including custom themes and plugins.
  • Proficiency in modern web technologies: JavaScript, DOM, CSS3, HTML5, and Liquid.
  • Experience with Storefront API, AJAX, jQuery, and ES6.
  • Strong debugging skills using browser consoles and other diagnostic tools.
  • Familiarity with SEO principles and site performance optimisation.


Leadership and Communication

  • Proven ability to lead a team and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for liaising with clients and team members.


Desirable

  • Experience integrating third-party applications and payment gateways.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and compliance (e.g., WCAG).
  • Familiarity with tools like Google Analytics and Tag Manager for performance tracking.
