Job Title:Database Infrastructure Lead As a key member of our database team, the Database Infrastructure Lead will play a critical role in modernizing our database infrastructure, ensuring data integrity, performance, and scalability throughout the process. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to lead large-scale migrations and take on a senior technical role responsible for overseeing all aspects of our database architecture. Key Responsibilities**Database Architecture & Design**Define database models, schemas, and structures for applications, ensuring designs meet scalability, performance, and security requirements.Evaluate and choose the right database technologies, considering factors such as data complexity, query patterns, and system resources.**Performance & Optimisation**Monitor system performance (queries, indexes, workloads), identifying bottlenecks and areas for improvement.Optimise queries, indexing strategies, and storage, ensuring high availability and low latency.**Database Operations & Maintenance**Oversee backups, restores, patching, replication, failover strategies, ensuring seamless database operations and minimizing downtime.Manage data migrations and upgrades, ensuring smooth transitions and minimal disruption to business operations.**Data Governance & Security**Implement access control, encryption, and compliance standards, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and auditability.Ensure data governance policies are in place and enforced, promoting a culture of data excellence within the organization.**Leadership & Coordination**Lead a team of DBAs, data engineers, or developers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure successful project outcomes.Collaborate with application architects, project managers, and other technical leads, fostering cross-functional teams and driving project success.**Cloud & Modernisation**Plan and lead database modernisation efforts, including migrating from on-premises to cloud environments.Manage cloud database services, ensuring efficient use of resources and optimal performance. Requirements• Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field.• 7+ years of experience in database development and management.• Strong hands-on experience with IBM DB2 database architecture and administration.• Proven experience in migrating DB2 databases to AWS RDS Aurora PostgreSQL.• Expertise in PostgreSQL development, including stored procedures, functions, indexing, and performance tuning.• Proficient in ETL tools, data transformation, and scripting languages (Python, Shell, or equivalent).• Familiarity with AWS services such as DMS (Database Migration Service), Schema Conversion Tool, RDS, and Aurora.• Strong understanding of data modelling, normalization, and database optimization techniques.• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
