Our client is a reputed international fully digitized trade finance platform that brings businesses requiring supply chain financing with investors who invest in trade finance assets as an alternative asset class. They are looking for a seasoned professional for the role of The Director of Risk .
Job Description
Location- Chennai/Hyderabad/Mumbai
Role summary:
The Director of Risk:
We are looking for an individual with exceptional logical thinking and emotional intelligence to join our Client and Transactional Risk approval team. The primary job scope is to challenge and oversight the deals proposed by the origination teams, to structure deals to be within risk appetite and if necessary filter out deals outside of risk appetite.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and manage credit, performance and fraud risk in the supply chain portfolio, with respect to both client and own exposure, communicating these risks effectively and transparently.
- Trade operational risk and fault risk well (supply chain risk)
- Formulate, implement and review prudent credit policies with regard to own exposure.
- Continuously analyze portfolio performance and recommend strategies with both revenue and risk in consideration, serving as a collaborative sounding board and trusted partner to the business.
- Implement risk management strategy within the venture’s risk management framework and establish effective processes to monitor these risks and identify emerging risks proactively so as to adjust management actions and maintain losses within acceptable thresholds.
- Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across the venture, including understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and policies.
Role specific technical competencies:
Ideally 14+ years’ experience covering both the following:
Credit approval with individual credit authority.
Supply chain finance and/or commodity finance in India, with some international exposure.
Junior hires with less experience will also be considered in more junior roles.
- Risk governance, trade operations or trade product exposure would be advantageous.
- Exceptional drive and achievement orientation, and intellectual agility.
- High comfort level with the uncertainty of an expanding start-up, with constant self-education, ability to develop structure from scratch, and creative problem-solving skills.
- Strong emotional intelligence and ability to collaborate in virtual teams.
Qualifications (training, licences, memberships, and certifications):
- Degree in any discipline from a top university.
Chartered Financial Analyst or GARP Financial Risk Manager certifications would be advantageous.
