Job Title: Enterprise Database SpecialistOverviewThis is a unique opportunity to join our team as an Enterprise Database Specialist, focusing on Vector Database Administration. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in production environments and a proven track record of delivering scalable database solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesDatabase Administration: Lead the administration of Astra DB Serverless (Vector) environments in production, ensuring optimal performance, security, and availability.Monitor database health using built-in tools and custom alerts, implementing proactive measures to prevent downtime.Develop and implement robust backup, restore, and cloning strategies for disaster recovery and operational continuity.Data Operations: Collaborate with data engineering teams to design and maintain schemas and collections, optimizing storage and query performance using Storage Attached Indexing and vector search capabilities.Support ingestion and indexing of vector data for Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) applications, ensuring seamless integration with AI platforms.Security & Compliance: Ensure database security through role-based access control, encryption, and audit logging, maintaining compliance with internal and external data governance policies.Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve security incidents and ensure regulatory compliance.Automation & Integration: Automate operational tasks using Astra APIs and CI/CD pipelines, integrating Astra DB with developer tools and AI platforms.Design and implement data pipelines for efficient data processing and analysis.Support & Troubleshooting: Provide production support, including incident response and root cause analysis, collaborating with DataStax support and internal stakeholders to resolve complex issues.QualificationsProven experience as a DBA in production environments, preferably with NoSQL or distributed databases.Hands-on experience with DataStax Astra DB, especially vector database features.Familiarity with GenAI use cases, semantic search, and vector embeddings.Proficiency in Python or similar scripting languages for automation and data operations.Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and multi-region deployments.Strong understanding of database security, performance tuning, and monitoring.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
