Find a fulfilling role as a Senior/ Principal ProgrammerPurpose:The primary function of this position is to provide programming expertise to the statistics and programming department across multiple projects, clients, and therapeutic areas.Key Responsibilities:This programmer will be responsible for manipulating large databases and generating reports to enable analysts to explore real-world healthcare data assets.Excellent SAS and SQL programming skills are required, along with the ability to implement complex logic.Candidates must be comfortable creating complex analysis datasets derived from various data sources, with a careful eye for outliers and errors.Prior experience in building patient cohorts and evaluating patient healthcare events in large databases, as well as using observational research methods such as epidemiology and statistical methods, is strongly desired.Technical Requirements:Proficiency in R and SQL programming is necessary. Expertise in Oncology databases such as Flatiron or COTA is highly valued. A good understanding of Oncology-specific analyses, including Line of Therapy algorithms, survival analysis, and different statistical models, is also desirable.R Shiny or Instant Health Data (IHD) experience is preferable.Experience with Analytic Datasets and patient cohorts is beneficial.General Skills:Effective leadership in internal and client study team meetings.Presentation of study updates at both internal and client meetings.Sharing scientific, technical, and practical knowledge within the team and with colleagues.Working in compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, company policies, procedures, and training.Building effective working relationships with internal and client team members.Developing innovative ideas and sharing them appropriately.Line management or mentorship of more junior team members.Contributions to the development of internal training materials.Contributions to internal process improvement initiatives.Minimum Qualification Requirements:Bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics, or another subject with high statistical content.A minimum of 4+ years of senior-level statistical programming experience and 7-8 years of principal-level experience.Database programming using SQL.Experience with advanced statistical methods, including survival and regression.Experience with real-world healthcare claims and EHR data, such as MarketScan, Optum, and Medicare databases.Other Information:Master's degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, computer science, or another subject with high statistical content.Training or experience using the OMOP common data model.Training or experience with Python, R, Databricks, or other cloud-based software.Pharmaceutical industry experience.Training or experience in epidemiological methods.
