Staff Scientist: (Microbiology, Microbial Biotechnology) B. Tech/M. Tech/M. SC/B. Sc/PhD with 2-4 years of work experience
Job Purpose: Lab and bench scale biohydrogen process development
Laboratory, bench and pilot scale experimentation, data generation, data analysis and presentation. Should be able to handle SAP for procurement activities for the team.
Key Job Success factors (Key Responsibilities)
- Microbiological aspects of aerobic and anaerobic fermentation (Microbe handling, pre seed and seed trail preparation, scale up knowledge from conception till commissioning, anaerobic glow box handling,)
- Able to work independently for design calculating, sizing, and costing of the project.
- Hands on experience at fermenters from lab scale to bench scale up to 100 L volumes.
- Well acquainted with knowledge of operating PLC and SCADA.
- Should be able to handle SAP for procurement activities for the team.
- Able to operate in cross-functional teams during day-to-day work is expected.
Technical Competencies:
- Operational knowledge of bench, fed batch and continuous fermentation, pilot scale fermentation. Hands on training of aerobic & anaerobic fermentation.
- Proactively seeks to understand the external environment in his/her domain. Works with minimum supervision and willing to adjust the demand and shifting priorities. Should easily learn from others experience and align with team culture and objectives.
- Aware of cost associated with project, has clarity of his role and deliverables with respect to the business goals. Evaluating techno-commercial feasibility.
Desired: Experience of lab, bench and pilot scale fermenter handling using aerobic and anaerobic cultures, ready to work in shifts whenever required, SAP knowledge for procurement. Knowledge of GLP, cGMP, and related regulations, patent drafting, DOE knowledge.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Hand on experience on anaerobic fermentation,
- Hand on microbial screening and isolation of aerobic and anaerobic cultures.
- Preservation and maintenance of isolated cultures.
- In depth knowledge for biohydrogen process development from different feedstocks.
- Expertise in screening, isolation, identification, and preservation of aerobic/anaerobic bacterial and fungal cultures.
- Experience in handling of lab/pilot equipment and anaerobic digesters.
- Demonstrates sound experimental/computational skills with ability to design experiments and analyse and interpret data intuitively.
- Experience in handling GC, HPLC
- Good understanding of technical and patent literature.
- Literature search and inputs for further process improvisation.
- Participates in conceptualizing IP strategy and competitive assessment within domain.
- Inventory management & procurement planning of chemicals and consumables using SAP.
- Ensuring safety compliance of laboratory workplace.
- Laboratory equipment AMC record maintenance, reporting of instrument break down.
- Ready to travel at commissioning site as and when required.
- Awareness of advances in biogas technology across the globe.
Other Responsibilities
- Design and meticulously perform experiments as per SOPs, drawing conclusion with appropriate DOE and reporting method knowledge.
- Literature survey for specific requirements.
- Co-ordination with project team and client for technical discussion
- Should be able to go for customer visit in capacity of technology expert on need basis whenever client visit is needed.
- Ensuring safety compliance at workplace with good laboratory practices.
- Maintain departmental database. Laboratory equipment AMC record.
- Calibration of laboratory equipment, record maintenance.
