Computational Biology/Bioinformatics (Full-time)

We are seeking a highly skilled R-shiny/Python Dash to support our data science and bioinformatics team in advancing the development of cutting-edge cell therapy solutions. As a key team member, you will work on designing and implementing scalable data pipelines, develop interactive dashboards, and facilitate data analysis workflows primarily using the R programming language (R-shiny) and Python Dash. The candidate would join the Bioinformatics team involving projects related to raw sequence (scRNA-Seq/ATAC-Seq/WGS/Chip-Seq/RNA-Seq/Exome sequencing & genome assembly /annotations) analysis and downstream systematic interpretation. This role is integral to accelerating the pace of research and clinical development by enabling efficient and accessible data-driven insights across multi-disciplinary teams.


Key Responsibilities:

The selected candidate will be part of the Excelra’s Bioinformatics group. You will be responsible to work with a team in research data analysis in both prospective and retrospective manner to generate the novel hypothesis.

  • Data Engineering & Integration:
  • Build and optimize data pipelines for biological and clinical datasets, ensuring seamless integration of various data sources (omics, clinical, etc.) with a focus on data integrity.
  • Python Dash/R Development:
  • Create interactive dashboards using Python Dash and R-shiny and write efficient, reusable R scripts for bioinformatics and statistical analysis.
  • Collaboration & Support:
  • Work with cross-functional teams to deliver R-based data solutions, providing technical support and troubleshooting.

Responsible for day-to-day operational activities of Omics (NGS) related projects

  • Automation & Efficiency:
  • Automate data processing tasks and continuously improve pipeline scalability and performance.
  • Documentation & Compliance:
  • Maintain thorough documentation and ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (HIPAA, GDPR).
  • Communication

Present the results and scientific hypotheses to internal and external stake holders

Good communication and analytical skills combined with ability to recognize and implement project plans.

Writing research papers, reports, reviews, and summaries



Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field. Advanced degrees are a plus.
  • 3+ years of experience working with R, with demonstrated expertise in building data pipelines and interactive dashboards.
  • Proficiency with Python, R-Shiny, R Markdown, and RStudio Connect.
  • Experience working in a life sciences or clinical research environment, ideally within cell therapy, immunotherapy, or a related field.
  • Solid understanding of bioinformatics and genomics data types (e.g., RNA-Seq, single-cell data) and their associated workflows.
  • Familiarity with relational databases (SQL), cloud platforms (AWS, GCP), and DevOps practices is a plus.
  • Experience with Docker and NextFlow.
  • Familiarity with machine learning is an added advantage.
  • Experience with Linux environment or cloud computing (AWS/GCP) is a plus.
  • Experience with version control systems such as GitHub.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a focus on scalability, efficiency, and data integrity.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.


Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Python, R-shiny especially for data analysis and integration.
  • Knowledge of statistical modeling and machine learning in the context of bioinformatics.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards related to clinical data management and reporting.
