Urban FT is building the industry’s premier digital banking platform for today…and tomorrow, and we are seeking an experienced python developer to join our team. We are seeking an experienced Senior Python Developer with expertise in Django, AWS, Kubernetes, and PostgreSQL. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building scalable, high-performance web applications and services, with a focus on cloud-native architectures. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining backend systems, ensuring seamless integration with cloud infrastructure, and driving continuous improvements in performance, security, and scalability.

Key responsibilities:

  • Building scalable, high-performance backend systems, primarily RESTful APIs with Django (3.x) and Python (3.10)
  • Collaborating on design, architecture and delivery of the application and services
  • Troubleshooting production issues and delivering critical fixes, and leading the response to operational issues and outages
  • Integrating multiple third-party service providers via REST and other APIs
  • Documenting and communicating knowledge of systems and processes
  • Coordinate with teams located in Australia and India, accommodating morning meetings, as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or computer engineering.
  • 5-10 years of experience in project management, preferably in the software industry.
  • Extensive experience with Python, especially Django and DRF
  • Experience deploying to and managing AWS infrastructure and services including ECS, SQS and RDS
  • Experience developing containerized applications and services e.g. Docker
  • Understanding of ORM concepts and relational datastores (PostgreSQL preferred)
  • Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs
  • Experience integrating with and managing third-party services

Nice to haves:


  • Experience deploying to and managing Kubernetes (EKS)
  • Understanding and experience of “infrastructure as code” and DevOps principles
  • Comfortable working with data scientists and experience with data analysis, pipelines and ETL
  • Understanding of and interest in mobile development (Swift/Kotlin)
