Role: To oversee and manage all aspects of tea estate operations including cultivation, production, labour management, sustainability practices, and compliance, ensuring optimal productivity, quality, and profitability. Key Responsibilities: 1. Estate Operations & Agronomy · Plan, supervise, and implement tea cultivation and production activities. · Oversee land preparation, planting, pruning, fertilization, irrigation, and pest management. · Monitor crop health and implement agronomic best practices to maximize yield and quality. 2. Factory Coordination · Coordinate with the factory team for timely plucking, transport, and processing of green leaves. · Ensure quality standards are met at every stage from field to factory. 3. Team & Labor Management · Lead, train, and supervise estate supervisors, field assistants, and labourers. · Maintain high morale, discipline, and productivity among the labour force. · Manage seasonal and permanent labourers, including attendance, wages, welfare, and dispute resolution. 4. Financial & Administrative Oversight · Prepare and manage estate budgets, expenses, and cost controls. · Maintain accurate records of operations, inventory, and reports. · Ensure timely reporting to senior management. 5. Sustainability & Compliance · Implement sustainable agriculture and environmental management practices. · Ensure compliance with health, safety, labour, and statutory regulations. 6. Infrastructure & Asset Management · Maintain estate infrastructure including roads, housing, irrigation systems, and machinery. · Oversee proper utilization and maintenance of estate assets. Qualifications & Experience: - Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture / Horticulture / Plantation Management / related field. - 10+ years of relevant experience in managing a tea estate or similar plantation environment. - Strong leadership, planning, and execution skills. - Knowledge of tea agronomy, pest and disease control, and plucking cycles. - Familiarity with labour laws and local statutory compliance. - Ability to lead large teams in remote locations. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills. - Proficient in record-keeping and operational reporting. - Tech-savvy with exposure to agricultural tools, machinery, or ERP systems is an advantage.
