Position Overview

As a Java Full Stack Engineer with Production Support, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting production systems, as well as collaborating closely with various teams across the organization to ensure system stability and efficiency. The role requires strong experience with both frontend and backend development, as well as expertise in supporting production environments with a keen focus on continuous improvement and incident management.

The role requires working in the night shift

Key Responsibilities

Production Support

- Provide 24/7 support for mission-critical applications, ensuring the stability, availability, and performance of production systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, often under high-pressure situations, while collaborating with other teams (e.g., Database, Network, Infrastructure, and Development teams).
- Proactively monitor system performance, analyze logs, and conduct root cause analysis for recurring incidents to prevent future occurrences.
- Participate in incident management, working on escalations, defining remediation plans, and ensuring that issues are properly communicated to stakeholders.
- Manage deployment activities, ensuring that all production deployments are smooth and efficient, and coordinate across teams for release management.
- Perform post-incident reviews and contribute to the documentation of known issues and solutions.
- A good score in HackerRank challenge will be an added advantage for this role.

Software Development

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance Java applications on both the backend and frontend.
- Write efficient, maintainable, and reusable code following best practices and coding standards.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and other stakeholders to gather and define requirements.
- Develop and implement RESTful APIs and web services for integration with internal and external systems.
- Work with frontend technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js) to deliver rich and dynamic user experiences.
- Develop and maintain database schemas, SQL queries, and integrate with relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or Cassandra.

Technical Leadership

- Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and assist with code reviews to ensure high-quality output.
- Contribute to the design and architecture of the system to ensure scalability, fault tolerance, and high availability.
- Work closely with DevOps teams to implement CI/CD pipelines and automate testing, deployment, and monitoring processes.
- Ensure that security practices are integrated throughout the development lifecycle and that all systems are secure from potential threats.

Collaboration & Communication

- Liaise with business units and technical teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including UX/UI designers, QA engineers, and DevOps engineers.
- Provide regular updates to management on the status of ongoing incidents, production issues, and project deliverables.
- Participate in daily standups, sprint planning, and retrospectives to ensure efficient delivery of features and support.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Educational Background: Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Technical Expertise:
- Java (Core, Spring Boot, Hibernate, etc.): Strong proficiency in Java development for backend systems.
- Frontend Technologies: Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frontend frameworks such as React.js, Angular, or Vue.js.
- Web Development: Experience with RESTful API design, microservices architecture, and full-stack development.
- Database Technologies: Proficiency with both SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra).
- Cloud & Containerization: Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes.
- DevOps & Automation: Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI), configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef), and version control systems (Git).
- Monitoring & Logging: Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and logging systems like Splunk, ELK stack.
- Incident Management & Troubleshooting: Proficient in debugging production systems, managing incidents, and ensuring continuous service delivery.
- Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in Java-based application development and production support.
- Proven track record of working in high-stakes production environments and resolving critical incidents swiftly.
- Hands-on experience in full-stack development, including both frontend and backend technologies.
- Experience with agile development methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.
- Ability to work with financial systems or in the banking sector is a plus.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities in high-pressure situations.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
- Ability to think critically and collaborate effectively to identify and implement solutions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality code and system reliability.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working in financial services or investment banking environments.
- Familiarity with Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, or similar messaging platforms.
- Knowledge of security standards and practices such as OAuth, SSL/TLS, OWASP.
- Experience in Agile or Scrum methodology and associated tools (Jira, Confluence).
- Experience with big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark, etc.) is a plus.
- Familiarity with machine learning or data analytics tools is a plus.
