Job Description JOB DESCRIPTION GROUP GENERAL MANAGER (GGM) EK Group / RS Group (Real Estate | Infrastructure | Building Materials | Ready-Mix Concrete | AAC & Fly-Ash Blocks | Mining | Hospitality | Education) POSITION OVERVIEW The Group General Manager (GGM) will serve as the strategic and operational anchor for all verticals within the EK Group / RS Group. This role demands a highly seasoned professional who can lead, supervise, and optimise performance across 67 business entities, including: Mining & Building Materials Manufacturing Ready-Mix Concrete (RMC) Production AAC, Fly Ash & Concrete Blocks Manufacturing Civil Construction & Infrastructure Projects Real Estate Development Hospitality (Spektrum Hotels) Education Institutions (Wisfield International School) The GGM will work closely with the Group MD and Chairman, ensuring business alignment, P&L optimisation, operational discipline, and sustainable multivertical growth. A strong foundation in Finance, Accounts, Costing, and Business Controls is critical, enabling the GGM to navigate complex financial structures, multi-unit reporting, capex planning, and revenue oversight. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Group Leadership & Multi-Vertical Oversight Provide executive leadership and operational direction to all vertical General Managers, Plant Heads, Project Heads, and Admin Leads. Establish unified governance practices across manufacturing, construction, real estate, hospitality, and education businesses. Implement structured systems, SOPs, and cross-functional coordination frameworks. 2. P&L Management & Financial Stewardship Consolidate, analyse, and present group-wide P&Ls to the Managing Director. Drive cost optimisation, budgeting accuracy, variance analysis, and risk mitigation. Oversee cash flow, working capital cycles, banking relationships, vendor liabilities, and financial discipline across units. Lead capex evaluation, ROI studies, and long-term financial planning. 3. Operational Excellence & Performance Monitoring Review and strengthen production efficiency of RMC plants, block manufacturing units, mining operations, and construction sites. Track project progress, procurement efficiency, resource utilisation, and operational KPIs. Implement accountability frameworks, productivity dashboards, deadline adherence systems, and quality benchmarks. 4. Business Development & Strategic Growth Drive expansion strategies across real estate, materials manufacturing, hospitality, and education segments. Identify new markets, revenue channels, product opportunities, vendor collaborations, and institutional partnerships. Support the MD in evaluating mergers, acquisitions, JV opportunities, and land/project pipelines. 5. People Leadership & Team Oversight Lead a large cross-functional workforce including Plant Managers, Project Managers, Sales, Finance, HR, and Operations. Foster a culture of performance, discipline, process ownership, and transparent reporting. Mentor and strengthen the leadership bench across all companies. 6. Compliance, Governance & Reporting Ensure statutory compliance across factories, mines, real estate RERA norms, hotel regulations, and education boards. Oversee audits, safety standards, legal adherence, and regulatory filings. Present weekly, monthly, and quarterly management reports to the MD. IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE Professional Background 1525 years of leadership experience in Infrastructure, EPC, Construction, Building Materials Manufacturing, or allied heavy industries. Proven track record of managing multi-unit operations or group-level portfolios. Strong exposure to manufacturing units, preferably RMC, blocks,mining, or construction materials. Financial Expertise (Mandatory) Strong grounding in Accounts, Finance, Costing, MIS Reporting, and P&L ownership. Ability to drive financial discipline across multiple companies. Expertise in budgeting, controls, audits, and fund utilisation. Leadership Competencies Visionary leadership with operational rigor. Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Strong communication, people management, and interdepartmental coordination skills. High integrity, maturity, and alignment with long-term organisational vision. QUALIFICATIONS MBA (Finance) / CA / CMA / Equivalent finance-related qualification preferred. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Commerce, or related fields is an advantage. WORK LOCATION Chennai (Group Corporate Office) with regular travel to plants, project sites, schools, and hotels. REPORTING TO Group Chairman & Managing Director EK Group / RS Group.
