Our vision for the future is based on the idea that transforming financial lives starts by giving our people the freedom to transform their own We have a flexible work environment and fluid career paths We not only encourage but celebrate internal mobility We also recognize the importance of purpose well-being and work-life balance Within Empower and our communities we work hard to create a welcoming and inclusive environment and our associates dedicate thousands of hours to volunteering for causes that matter most to them Chart your own path and grow your career while helping more customers achieve financial freedom Empower Yourself We are looking for a Sr Analyst Taxation to join our high performing Taxation department to assist with leading the Income Tax Compliance function for Great-West Lifeco Inc and its subsidiaries As a Sr Analyst Taxation you will be responsible for the preparation of Canadian income tax compliance matters as well as information gathering for tax returns and computations and tax audit queries You will build your skills in a dynamic learning environment which empowers team members to grow Reporting to the Indian Manager you will assist in investigating researching and analyzing income tax matters for the purpose of tax compliance tax audits and or standardized reports Essential Functions Prepare Canadian income tax compliance in respect our entities including preparing and reviewing corporate partnership and trust income tax returns Prepare Canadian commodity tax compliance in respect our entities including preparing and reviewing monthly commodity tax returns Prepare Canadian tax computations in respect of our entities including preparing and reviewing annual adjustment cost base ACB computations Prepare Canadian tax computations in respect of our entities including preparing and reviewing annual safe income computations Analyze research and document tax matters associated with the preparation of the above returns and computations Assist in responding to tax audit queries including gathering the information required and compiling responses Assist with document data management by gathering and storing certain documents data such as financial statements and legal agreements in standardized SharePoint sites Assist with the update and maintenance of end user computing EUC lists Assist with the development coaching and training of staff members Qualifications Completion of a professional accounting designation or equivalent Currently enrolled interested in completion of the CPA In-Depth Tax Course 5 to upto 8 years of experience in Canadian taxation exposure to Canadian international tax is advantageous Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple demands and competing priorities to achieve required results Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to work independently and also work collaboratively in a team environment Passion for developing others and developing a high-performance culture Strong verbal and written communication skills Proficiency in Excel experience in SAP Taxprep SharePoint and or Longview Tax is an asset This job description is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties responsibilities and qualifications of the job The employer has the right to revise this job description at any time You will be evaluated in part based on your performance of the responsibilities and or tasks listed in this job description You may be required perform other duties that are not included on this job description The job description is not a contract for employment and either you or the employer may terminate employment at any time for any reason We are an equal opportunity employer with a commitment to diversity All individuals regardless of personal characteristics are encouraged to apply All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age race color national origin ancestry sex sexual orientation gender gender identity gender expression marital status pregnancy religion physical or mental disability military or veteran status genetic information or any other status protected by applicable state or local law
