Position Summary:We're looking for a Lead UX Designer to thoughtfully contribute to our award-winning electronic health record and physician practice management product. This role is based in Chennai, India. In this role, you will help lead the UX portion of our product development process for multidisciplinary agile R&D teams consisting of product managers, developers, data analytics specialists, service operations agentsand of course, our customersto define, design, and test workflows that empower medical practice staff to efficiently and effectively manage the business of patient care while keeping the needs of the patient front and center. About the team: We're working to transform a complex and sometimes cumbersome set of processes into a more unified, intuitive, satisfying, and empowering experience for our users. You will rethink and redesign the process of configuring athenaOne in a way that streamlines the work our internal teams do and helps our practice clients enjoy a seamless experience. As a successful candidate, you will be a champion for our users and embrace the challenge of solving complex problems that present the greatest opportunities to ease the burden on healthcare workers by removing obstacles and creating better paths. You will develop a clear point of view about UX decisions and trade-offs in collaboration with product and engineering leads. You'll function well both independentlymaking well-informed design decisions on your ownand in collaboration with cross-functional partners in product, engineering, and other disciplines. You have an eye for design and the ability to spot small details that others might miss. You love finding ways to drive incremental but meaningful improvements that move us toward a greater long-term vision. You bring curiosity, empathy, and a sense of humour to everything you do. Job Responsibilities - Conduct primary and secondary research - Design scalable, web-based product experiences - Map out processes and identify opportunities for efficiency - Produce detailed designs and specifications for team projects - Identify opportunities for improvement in existing products - Make trade-offs and decisions about project scope, design strategy, and implementation - Seek out and incorporate feedback from users and cross-functional teams - Promote and demonstrate design best practices for product owners, engineers, and junior design collaborators - Proactively foster relationships across scrum teams to support cohesion and consistency throughout the user experience Qualifications - 8+ years of professional design experience, preferably in enterprise, financial, or healthcare systems - Experience solving highly complex user problems - Self-directed and comfortable making decisions without perfect information - Interest in developing a deep understanding of the U.S. healthcare space - Interest in or experience working with agile/scrum teams - Ability to articulate rationale for design decisions - Portfolio demonstrating strong problem framing, design communication, interaction design skills, and attention to detail About Athenahealth Our vision:In an industry that becomes more complex by the day, we stand for simplicity.
