Job Summary This is a full-time on-site role for a Design Engineer at Innotec Power in Faridabad. We are seeking a skilled Design Engineer with experience in the Motors & Alternators industry and knowledge of sheet metal design. The candidate will be responsible for developing new designs, creating 3D/2D models, preparing engineering documentation, and working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality, cost-effective, and manufacturable solutions. Qualifications: - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, or a related field. - 2–5 years of design engineering experience in motors, alternators, or related rotating electrical machines.. - Strong expertise in SolidWorks and Design, Fabrication, and Assembly processes. - Knowledge of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and manufacturing drawings & familiarity with industry standards (IEC, NEMA, IS). - Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. - Strong knowledge of Motor and Alternator Design principles, Manufacturing & Quality processes, and industry standards. - Knowledge of Sheet Metal manufacturing processes will be a plus. - Excellent communication, Strong interpersonal, negotiation and project management skills. - Ability to work in a team and adapt to different situations Skills Required: - Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. - Hands-on prototyping or shop floor experience. - Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities. - Strong leadership and team management skills. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Job Description: 1. New Product Design & Development - Conceptualize and design new motors, alternators, and associated sheet metal components (enclosures, housings, brackets, covers, ventilation systems, etc.). - Perform detailed 3D modeling and 2D drafting with complete GD&T for manufacturability. - Conduct design feasibility studies considering cost, weight, performance, and manufacturing constraints. - Work with cross-functional teams (R&D, Production, Supply Chain, QA) to translate requirements into manufacturable designs. - Support prototyping, assembly trials, and validation testing of new designs. 2. Updating & Improving Existing Designs - Evaluate existing designs and implement improvements for performance, reliability, and cost optimization. - Modify sheet metal designs to meet new customer requirements, regulatory changes, or updated specifications. - Resolve design-related issues identified during production or field performance. - Drive continuous improvement initiatives for standardization and modularization. 3. Process Flow & Manufacturing Support - Develop detailed process flows, fabrication sequences, and assembly instructions for sheet metal components and motor sub-assemblies. - Define manufacturing tolerances, welding requirements, and surface treatment specifications. - Provide technical support to production teams to resolve fabrication or assembly challenges. - Collaborate with vendors/suppliers for tooling, sheet metal part development, and cost optimization. 4. Engineering Documentation & Compliance - Create and maintain engineering drawings, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and PLM entries. - Prepare design calculation reports, tolerance stack-up studies, and validation documentation. - Support Engineering Change Orders (ECO) and configuration management. - Ensure compliance with industry standards (IEC, NEMA, IS) and internal quality systems. 5. Cross-functional Collaboration & Testing - Work with testing teams to define validation plans (vibration, thermal, strength, and noise testing). - Analyse test results and implement design improvements. - Provide technical inputs during customer discussions, audits, and design reviews. - Support field service and customer teams with technical troubleshooting. Performance Metrics: 1. Design Quality & Accuracy - % of designs approved in first review cycle. - - Number of design errors/ECNs raised post-release. - - Compliance with GD&T, standards (IEC/NEMA/IS), and internal guidelines. 2. Timeliness & Productivity - On-time completion of design tasks vs. planned schedule. - - Average design cycle time reduction compared to baseline. - - Number of new/updated designs released per quarter. 3. Innovation & Cost Optimization - Contribution to cost reduction projects (e.g., redesigns saving material/assembly time). - - % of design changes leading to improved manufacturability or cost efficiency. - - Number of new design concepts/innovations proposed per year. 4. Process & Documentation Excellence - Accuracy and completeness of engineering documentation (drawings, BOMs, process flows). - - Timely closure of Engineering Change Orders (ECOs). - - PLM/ERP documentation compliance. 5. Collaboration & Support - Response time to production/vendor queries. - - % of cross-functional issues resolved without escalation. - - Feedback from production, testing, and procurement teams on design support. 6. Testing & Validation Contribution - % of prototypes passing validation tests on first attempt. - - Timely implementation of design changes from test feedback. - - Participation in root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action effectiveness. 7. Continuous Improvement & Learning - Number of process improvements or standardization initiatives implemented. - - Training hours completed on new tools, design methods, or standards. - - Adoption of digital design tools/automation for efficiency gains. Compensation/ Remuneration: The shortlisted candidate/candidates will initially be hired on a probation basis for a 3 or 6-month period during which he/she will be entitled to an annual CTC of INR 3,00,000 to 7,00,000 (Based on the Skill Set, Experience and Qualifications).
