Job Description Project Summary Gurushala was launched in September 2019, offering a variety of high-quality interactive resources, including online courses on innovative pedagogies, curated digital content aligned to the school curriculum and a networking platform for teachers across India. In 2021, Gurushala initiated its engagement with students through online assessments and a range of online classes for students. The program has aimed to positively impact the learning levels of students by training teachers to integrate technology and innovative group learning pedagogies inside the classroom. While continuing to provide resources, Gurushala is also looking to expand to a new target audience while deepening engagement with the existing target audience. Position Summary We are seeking an incumbent to conceptualise, develop, and execute Gurushala's revenue generation strategy. This is an entrepreneurial role for someone ready to take complete ownership of a new vertical, build the business model, establish sales pipelines, forge partnerships, execute sales and drive expansion. The individual will be responsible for: identifying potential markets and customer segments, developing sales and marketing strategies aligned with Gurushala's mission, designing and implementing go-to-market plans and leveraging AI and data-driven tools to optimise lead generation, customer engagement, and campaign effectiveness. The term sales, marketing and packages are solely for educational packages offered by Gurushala to the user. Whoever is being targeted to offer this package. Mindset Required The role demands a builder's mindset and comfort with ambiguity. Social enterprises that introduce a sales function often face resistance both internally and externally. The person in this role will need to educate colleagues about ethical, missionaligned selling and work with users to show that paying for Gurushala's services creates direct value. They will be expected to design a revenue model that remains true to Gurushala's mission-such as a crosscompensation approach in which paying schools help subsidise services for lowincome schools-and to iterate on this model as new insights emerge. As the initiative grows, the candidate will recruit, train and mentor a dedicated sales and marketing team, establish performance metrics. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in uncharted environments, who can translate Gurushala's social mission into a compelling commercial proposition, and who sees revenue generation not as a departure from impact but as a way to amplify it. Key Responsibilities - Develop the revenue model and strategy: Define the value proposition of Gurushala's offerings and design sustainable revenue models. Prepare annual/monthly sales plans, budgets and pricing strategies - Market research and opportunity identification: Conduct research to understand the needs of the stakeholders and potential funding partners. Identify market needs, set pricing and negotiate contracts. Use user insights to shape product development and marketing. - Execute sales and partnerships: Identify potential schools, CSR donors and corporate partners. Build relationships, present proposals, close deals, and achieve revenue targets. Manage the full sales pipeline: lead generation, proposals, negotiation, closing and aftersales support. Ensure timely invoicing and work with finance to monitor payments. - Plan and run marketing campaigns: Design and execute multichannel marketing campaigns (email, social media, webinars, onground outreach) to create awareness and generate leads. Use storytelling and highlight the benefits of Gurushala's programs rather than just features. Position Gurushala as a socialimpact brand and incorporate the story of crosssubsidisation or community impact into marketing. - Analyze data and report: Use data analytics to identify market trends, measure campaign performance and forecast sales. Create and present regular performance reports to leadership Required Skills and Abilities - Demonstrated track record in achieving sales targets and driving revenue growth - 5-7 years of experience in sales or business development, prior experience in the education or social-impact sector is desirable but not mandatory - Bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration, social entrepreneurship or a related field; an MBA or postgraduate qualification is desirable - Demonstrated ability to build and scale revenue streams in a missiondriven organization - Strong interpersonal skills; able to listen to customers needs and craft solutions - Experience with digital marketing, CRM platforms and AIenabled tools; proficiency in data analysis and presentation - Ability to work independently, take initiative, manage budgets and deliver results in resourceconstrained environments Reporting The role will report to the Head of Gurushala or the senior leadership team.
