Floriculturist

We (an US based export company) are looking for an experienced horticulturist/ Floriculturist with at least five years of experience in the field.

**Key Responsibilities Are**
- Acquire high quality fresh flowers with mínimal pests and sturdy stems in the bud stage from specified sources.
- Explore multiple sources (including agents, markets, and direct farmers) to have options in case of necessity.
- Evaluate the packaging environment and offer technical guidance to all assistant workers for maintaining the environment
- ensure that all necessary materials for packing flowers are available prior to dispatch, taking into consideration external factors such as climate and temperature.
- Ensure timely arrival and prompt distribution of flowers to string/garland makers.
- Plants can be vulnerable to damage during extreme weather conditions or transportation. Be innovative in reducing such risks and finding alternate solutions.
- Regularly supervise the ice storage to ensure ice packs are frozen and acquired in a timely manner for packaging.
- Monitor the movement of flowers from the refrigeration unit in batches rather than all at once.
- Be cautious to prevent any moisture on the flowers during packaging and handle them delicately.
- Assist assistants in ensuring flowers/garlands are not exposed to open air for long periods.
- Taking timely and appropriate action helps protect plants during transit and packaging.
- Plan ahead and ensure all shipment boxes are prepared at least half an hour before departure.
- Assess the quality of garlands and make necessary improvements.
- Keep track of packaging inventory and maintain sufficient stock.
- Evaluate the shelf life quality of flowers upon arrival and continuously strive to enhance their quality.
- Make adjustments to products as required and when necessary.

**Essential qualifications**:
Willing to travel continuously locally or nationally based on requirement is mandatory.

Bachelors/Masters from any recognized university

5-8 years of work experience as a product developer/ agriculturist/ horticulturist in the field of science is mandatory

Age should be 30 years and above
