Institutional Credit Management’s (“ICM”) objective is to provide an integrated “end-to-end” credit underwriting, identification, measurement, management, monitoring and reporting for wholesale credit businesses across the enterprise. Institutional Client Group (ICG) In-Business Quality Assurance is an integral part of the ICM organization.
The ICG In-Business Quality Assurance function (QA) verifies that established standards and processes are followed and consistently applied. ICG Management uses the results of the quality assurance reviews to assess the quality of the group's policies, procedures, programs, and practices as relates to the management of wholesale credit risk. The results help management identify operational weaknesses, risks associated with the function, training needs, and process deficiencies.
The ICM In-Business Quality Assurance Senior Officer executes and participates on the Quality Assurance Reviews (QARs), providing feedback, insight, and observations on any deficiency and areas of improvement, engaging with the management of the respective ICG business area, Independent Risk, and critical partner stakeholders and regulators.
This role reports to the ICM Global Head of In-Business Quality Assurance of Data Analytics.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support the In-Business Quality Assurance Global Head of Data Analytics to set the global strategy for and lead the implementation and ongoing delivery of a robust Data analytics and testing program for the Quality Assurance function as it relates to Wholesale Credit Risk (WCR) data governance
- Provide effective challenge to Business Region Heads and Portfolio Managers on the design and operation of the data and credit processes within ICM and report any identified gaps and concerns on those through quarterly reports published to ICG senior management. Ability to query and clean complex datasets from multiple sources, to funnel into advanced statistical analysis
- Hands-on experience in designing, planning, prototyping, productionizing, deploying, maintaining, and documenting reliable and scalable data science solution.
- Establish and drive processes that enable wholesale credit risks within the bank are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled, consistent with the bank's risk appetite and all policies and processes established within the risk governance framework.
- Accountable for leading the Data Analytics team which is responsible for execution of the following:
- Consistent and objective assessments of credit processes during reviews
- Subsequent follow-up on corrective actions that were raised during reviews
- Synthesize and prepare quarterly review reports to ICG business management that communicate and measure results and identify negative trends and potential solutions
- Update and create review templates and continuously improve processes and infrastructure by exploring and evaluating new data sources, analytical tools, and capabilities
- Interact with the respective senior management across ICG, in order to ensure that quality assurance protocols are adequate for all portfolios
- Assist in the establishment of WCR IBQA policies, procedures, risk assessment and controls to drive effective coverage and standards
- Represent WCR IBQA on various workstreams and initiatives across ICM and ICG business lines.
- Deep and hands-on in deriving concrete insight from data and qualifying business impact.
- Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyse model performance and data accuracy
- Collaborate within IBQA teams and with QA Directors and provide them with analytics insights
- Provide oversight and guidance over the assessment of complex data related issues, structure potential solutions and drive effective resolution with stakeholders.
- Support the Global Head of WCR IBQA on internal projects and initiatives
- Act as a change agent coaching staff in areas with noted deficiencies and sharing any observed best practices
- Ensure ongoing and timely feedback and coaching of Data Analytics team to sustain a strong control culture and an unwavering commitment to excellence in execution
- Attract, develop, and retain top data analytics staff focusing on quality assurance of credit processes
- Support WCR IBQA team to abreast of relevant changes to rules/regulations and other industry news including regulatory findings.
- Support WCR IBQA Voice of the Employee (VOE) as well as diversity and inclusion initiatives
- Travel (less than 10%)
Skills/Competencies:
Analytics and Business:
- Demonstrable experience of at least 10 years of data analytics, in innovation, modelling and analytics, internal audit, or similar functions at an investment or large commercial bank
- Good grasp of Wholesale Credit Risk and Counterparty Credit Risk Processes and organizational awareness, to evaluate findings identified through the Quality Assurance process, determine materiality, and partnering with business to drive
