**Job Description: HOD - Production Engineer (Machine Shop)**

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced HOD - Production Engineer (Machine Shop) to oversee our manufacturing operations and ensure the efficient production of high-quality products. The HOD will play a critical role in maintaining production targets, quality standards, and safety protocols.

**Designation**: HOD - Machine Shop

**Responsibilities**:
**Overall Production Management**:

- Lead and oversee the entire production process in the machine shop, ensuring the efficient and timely manufacturing of tubes and shafts.
- Develop and implement production plans, schedules, and workflows to meet the company's production goals and quality standards.
- Monitor and optimize the use of resources, including manpower, machinery, and materials, to maximize productivity and minimize waste.
- Ensure that production targets are met while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

**SPM (Special Purpose Machine) Automation**:

- Identify opportunities for automation within the machine shop and oversee the implementation of SPM technologies.
- Collaborate with the engineering and maintenance teams to design, develop, and integrate automated systems that streamline production processes.
- Continuously evaluate and upgrade SPM systems to keep up with technological advancements and industry best practices.

**Quality Assurance**:

- Ensure that all production activities adhere to the company's quality control standards and regulatory requirements.
- Implement and monitor quality control procedures to detect and address defects or deviations promptly.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging the team to identify and rectify quality issues at the earliest stages of production.
- Maintain all ISO documents accurately and ensure compliance with ISO standards.

**Team Leadership and Development**:

- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing production team, fostering a collaborative and motivated work environment.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations, providing constructive feedback and identifying opportunities for training and development.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement within the production team.

**Coordination and Collaboration**:

- Work closely with other departments, including engineering, procurement, and sales, to ensure seamless integration of production activities with overall business objectives.
- Maintain clear and effective communication with senior management, providing regular updates on production status, challenges, and opportunities.
- Coordinate with external suppliers and vendors to ensure the timely delivery of raw materials and components required for production.

**Continuous Improvement and Innovation**:

- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production processes, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
- Stay updated with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices, incorporating relevant innovations into the production process.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies to optimize production efficiency and minimize defects.

**Maintenance and Troubleshooting**:

- Oversee the maintenance and repair of production machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules and procedures.
- Quickly troubleshoot and resolve production issues to minimize disruptions and ensure a smooth production flow.
- Collaborate with vendors for the repair of damaged fixtures and regularly follow up to prevent production stoppages

**Budget Management**:

- Develop and manage the production budget, ensuring that expenditures are within approved limits.
- Monitor and control production costs, identifying areas for cost reduction without compromising on quality or safety.

**Reporting and Documentation**:

- Maintain accurate and up-to-date production records, including output, downtime, quality issues, and resource utilization.
- Prepare regular reports for senior management, highlighting production performance, challenges, and improvement plans.

**Compliance and Safety**:

- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Promote a safe working environment by implementing and enforcing safety protocols and procedures.

**Mandatory Requirements**:

- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 10 - 15 years of extensive experience in production management within a machine shop environment.
- Proven expertise in SPM automation processes.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
