**Job Summary**:
The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner provides direct patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and technical procedures to a group of normal-to-high-risk infants. This role involves managing the neonatal caseload with physician consultation and collaboration, coordinating pre
- and post-operative care activities, and providing support during crisis situations in neonatal units. Additionally, the Nurse Practitioner utilizes planning, implementation, and evaluation in formulating neonatal diagnosis and intervention.

**Essential Responsibilities**:

- Interpret antenatal/perinatal health history and assess gestational age.
- Perform resuscitation of newborns in the delivery room and neonatal units.
- Conduct physical exams and evaluations on infants in various units.
- Perform specialized procedures on high-risk infants.
- Order and interpret lab tests, radiographs, and routine diagnostics.
- Prescribe phototherapy, antimicrobial therapy, and nutrition supplements.
- Make rounds on designated patients, evaluate care and progress, and develop plans.
- Collaborate with attending MD regarding treatment plans.
- Develop, implement, review, and revise standards/procedures/protocols for Neonatal Care.
- Keep current with standards/issues/implications for advanced practice nursing and provide educational programs for staff.
- Serve as a clinical resource to staff, identify learning needs, and implement educational programs.
- Utilize cost-effective resources and provide input to Hospital/Regional Committees.
- Maintain clinical expertise and competency through patient care if needed.

**Qualifications**:
**Basic Qualifications**:

- Minimum two (2) years of experience in neonatal care.
- Masters degree in nursing.
- Registered Nurse License (Hawaii) required at hire.
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse License (Hawaii).
- Basic Life Support from American Heart Association.
- Neonatal Nurse Practitioner Certificate.

**Additional Requirements**:

- Skilled in patient advocacy.
- Strong patient assessment skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in leadership, teaching, interpersonal relations, customer service, problem-solving, and decision-making.
- Taxonomy code required at the time of hire.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Minimum one (1) year of Nurse Practitioner experience in an acute care setting.
- Valid Hawaii APRN Recognition with Prescriptive Authority.
- Flexibility to work overnight shifts.
