**Job Summary**:
The University of Toronto India Foundation (UTIF), based in Mumbai, is dedicated to fostering innovation, research, and entrepreneurship through collaborative initiatives between the University of Toronto and Indian institutions/organizations. As a Communications Associate, you will play a critical role in amplifying UTIF's mission and initiatives by developing and implementing a comprehensive communications strategy. Your responsibilities will include social media management, branding, event coordination, and content creation to support UTIF's two main pillars: Research and Entrepreneurship.

You will report to the Country Head and collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to effectively communicate UTIF's impact, bridging the gap between academic scholarship and public engagement.

**Your Opportunity**:
As a key member of the UTIF team, you will:
**Core Duties and Responsibilities**

**Social Media and Digital Communications**:

- Manage UTIF’s social media platforms, particularly LinkedIn, to distill academic information creatively and promote UTIF’s initiatives.
- Develop engaging content, including graphics, videos, and written posts, to expand UTIF’s digital presence and reach diverse audiences.
- Collaborate with external agencies to design, develop, and maintain the UTIF website, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives.

**Content Creation and Branding**:

- Contribute to branding and design efforts, enhancing UTIF’s visual identity and messaging.
- Conceptualize and maintain a newsletter that informs partners about UTIF’s activities and distils updates from research programming.
- Communicate complex academic or research-driven content in concise and engaging ways for public access.

**Event Coordination and Public Relations**:

- Plan and execute PR-related events to effectively promote UTIF’s mission and initiatives.
- Assist in organizing workshops, seminars, and networking events, ensuring smooth coordination with vendors and stakeholders.

**Strategic Communication**:

- Support efforts to bridge the gap between academic scholarship and public engagement, with a focus on urban challenges and entrepreneurial innovation.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of advocacy-focused communications strategies to promote UTIF’s programs and impact.
- Support with generation of annual and academic report generation by ensuring clarity and alignment with organisational branding guidelines
- Develop platform-specific engagement and promotion plan for increasing UTIF's traction and visibility on different social media platforms

**Qualifications and Skills**:
**Education**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field.

**Experience**:

- 4-5 years of experience managing social media platforms for organizations or brands, particularly LinkedIn.
- Proven experience in branding, content creation, and basic graphic design.
- Familiarity with website design and development processes, including collaborating with external agencies.
- Event planning and execution experience in a professional setting.
- Experience in developing strategies for increasing engagement and visibility on diverse social-media outlets as well as other virtual platforms

**Skills**:

- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in accessible ways.
- Basic proficiency in graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).
- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Experience working in international or cross-cultural contexts.
- Familiarity with the academic or research landscape in India or Canada.
