Job Description – AGM/DGM (Procurement) Department:Contracts & Procurement Location:Nagpur Industry:Steel / Engineering / Manufacturing Reports To:Head/CPO – Procurement About the Role We are seeking an experienced and strategicAGM/DGM – Procurementto lead the end-to-end procurement function, drive vendor development, ensure timely sourcing, and support project and plant operations. This role is ideal for a senior professional with strong leadership, commercial acumen, and deep technical understanding of steel/engineering procurement. Key Responsibilities Lead the procurement function and ensure alignment with project timelines and organizational requirements. Drive procurement strategy, cost optimization, and supplier performance management. Approve procurement plans, RFQs, comparative statements, and vendor finalization. Oversee technical and commercial evaluation of bids in collaboration with engineering and project teams. Lead contract negotiations, vendor development, and long-term sourcing strategies. Ensure compliance with procurement policies, quality standards, and contract terms. Monitor high-value purchases, delivery schedules, delays, and risk mitigation. Mentor and guide the procurement team (Managers, Engineers, Executives). Coordinate with Accounts for timely payments and vendor issue resolution. Prepare and present weekly/monthly MIS, dashboards, and procurement status reports to management. Desired Candidate Profile Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering). Above 8years of experience in procurement (Steel Manufacturing industry preferred). Strong experience in contracts, commercial negotiations, and high-value sourcing. Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP/Oracle) and MS Office. Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills. The role requires strong technical understanding and commercial skills to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement. Key Responsibilities Manage end-to-end procurement for assigned categories/projects. Prepare procurement schedules, RFQs, and bid evaluations (technical & commercial). Coordinate with engineering and project teams to ensure accurate technical specifications. Lead vendor negotiations, shortlisting, and finalization processes. Prepare comparative statements, get internal approvals, and release POs/contracts. Track delivery schedules, supplier performance, and escalate issues. Contribute to cost reduction initiatives and vendor development. Support the Contract Manager in drafting and reviewing contracts. Coordinate with Accounts for timely invoice processing and payment release. Prepare weekly/monthly MIS and procurement status reports. Desired Candidate Profile Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical preferred). 5– 10years of experience in procurement or supply chain (Steel/Manufacturing preferred). Key Responsibilities Assist in preparing procurement plans as per project schedules and contract requirements. Prepare & issue RFQs, evaluate bids, and support vendor selection. Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure accurate technical specifications. Manage vendor communication and ensure compliance to contract terms. Prepare comparative statements, coordinate approvals, and support purchase order drafting. Monitor supplier performance, material delivery schedules, and resolve issues. Support cost-saving initiatives and procurement strategy development. Coordinate with Accounts for timely processing of purchase-related payments. Prepare weekly/monthly MIS and procurement reports. Desired Candidate Profile Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical preferred). 2–5 years of experience in procurement or supply chain (Steel industry is a plus). Exposure to ERP systems (SAP/Oracle) desirable. Strong technical understanding, commercial awareness, and negotiation skills. Good communication and coordination ability.
