Job Purpose:
To design and engineer solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, ensuring optimal performance, cost-effectiveness, and compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Design:
- Conduct detailed site surveys and assessments.
- Design solar PV systems, including system sizing, component selection, and layout.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
- Analyze solar irradiance data and other relevant parameters.
- Optimize system design for maximum energy output and minimal costs.
- Electrical Design:
- Design DC and AC electrical systems, including cable sizing, circuit breaker selection, and earthing.
- Prepare electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Coordinate with electrical contractors for installation and commissioning.
- Structural Design:
- Design and supervise the construction of solar PV structures, including roof-mounted and ground-mounted systems.
- Ensure compliance with structural engineering standards and local building codes.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Stay updated on the latest solar PV regulations and standards.
- Prepare necessary documentation for obtaining permits and approvals.
- Ensure compliance with grid connection requirements and safety standards.
- Project Management:
- Coordinate with project teams, including civil, electrical, and procurement teams.
- Monitor project timelines and budgets.
- Troubleshoot technical issues and provide solutions.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of solar PV technology and system design principles.
- Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, PVsyst).
- Knowledge of relevant codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEC).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
