Job Title : Senior Engineer IAC.

Job Type : Contract.

Job Description :

We are looking for an experienced Packer Expert with 5+ years of hands-on experience in building and managing VM images using Packer in VMware environments and at least one major public cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

The ideal candidate will work closely with our DevOps and Infrastructure teams to streamline our image-building processes and ensure our virtual environments are optimized for performance, security, and scalability.

Key Responsibilities :

- Design, develop, and maintain Packer templates for building and deploying VM images in VMware and one public cloud environment (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

- Experience in building Packer images on Linux or Windows environments.

- Collaborate with DevOps, infrastructure, and security teams to ensure image builds comply with organizational standards and security guidelines.

- Automate the creation of images with Packer, integrating with CI/CD pipelines to enhance deployment efficiency.

- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Packer templates and image builds in VMware and cloud environments.

- Optimize Packer configurations for performance, reusability, and scalability.

- Maintain documentation of Packer workflows, configurations, and image management procedures.

- Keep up to date with the latest features and best practices for Packer and relevant platforms (VMware, AWS, Azure, GCP).

- Ensure image build processes are aligned with compliance, security, and industry standards.

Qualifications :

- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience with HashiCorp Packer, particularly in building images in VMware environments.

- Hands-on experience with Packer in at least one public cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

- Strong understanding of VMware ESXi, vSphere, or similar virtualization technologies.

- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent.

- Experience in integrating Packer with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.

- Solid scripting skills in Bash, PowerShell, or Python to automate and troubleshoot Packer workflows.

- Knowledge of cloud security best practices, especially related to image management.

- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

- Excellent communication skills to articulate technical concepts and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications :

- Certifications in VMware or any major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP).

- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or other containerization technologies.

- Familiarity with DevSecOps principles and integrating security checks into the image build process.
