ABOUT THE COMPANY: Tata Electronics Private Limited (TEPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons, is a greenfield initiative focused on building India’s first AI-enabled, state-of-the-art semiconductor foundry . The facility will manufacture advanced semiconductor devices including power management ICs, display driver ICs, MCUs, and high-performance logic—addressing the rising global demand across automotive, computing, wireless communication, data storage, and AI markets. ROLE OVERVIEW: Tata Electronics is building one of India’s most advanced semiconductor manufacturing facilities in Dholera, Gujarat. As the Head of Smart Manufacturing (CIM/FA) , you will define and lead the digital backbone of the fab, driving the end-to-end strategy, rollout, and reliability of Factory Automation, MES, and CIM systems that power high-volume semiconductor production. This role is ideal for a seasoned smart manufacturing leader with deep experience in SiView MES , AMHS , APC , FDC , OCAP , TMS , RMS , and other CIM applications across a global semiconductor fab environment. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Strategic Leadership Develop and execute the Smart Manufacturing roadmap for the new TEPL Dholera fab. Align automation strategy with fab ramp milestones, operational excellence targets, and long-term capacity growth. Drive digital transformation initiatives to improve productivity, quality, cycle time, and system reliability. 2. Factory Automation & CIM Systems Ownership Lead deployment, integration, and lifecycle management of: SiView MES AMHS (Daifuku / Muratec) APC, FDC, SPC, OCAP RMS, TMS, Scheduling & Dispatching systems Other CIM/FA modules and fab-wide digital platforms Ensure architecture robustness, data integrity, and adherence to SEMI standards (SECS/GEM, EDA, E84, etc.). 3. Cross-functional Collaboration Partner closely with Process Engineering, Equipment Engineering, Manufacturing, Yield, IT Infrastructure, Facilities, Quality and Supply Chain. Act as the central bridge between engineering and IT for all factory digital systems. Manage vendor relationships for MES, AMHS, APC/FDC tools, and automation hardware/software. 4. Team Leadership & Capability Building Build, lead, and mentor a high-performance Smart Manufacturing / CIM / Automation team. Develop internal competencies in MES, automation engineering, tool integration, data analytics, and system operations. Promote a collaborative, high-accountability team culture aligned with Tata values. 5. Operational Excellence Ensure 24x7 system availability, stability, and performance of all factory automation platforms. Drive continuous improvement initiatives using structured methodologies (RCA, DMAIC, lean principles). Establish, track, and enhance KPIs for automation uptime, system performance, cycle time, and dispatching efficiency. 6. Project Management Lead large-scale system deployments, fab module integrations, and production ramp projects. Manage budgets, timelines, and resource planning for CIM/FA initiatives. Govern change management, cybersecurity protocols, and data governance policies. 7. Problem Solving & Escalations Serve as the final escalation point for all MES/AMHS/CIM system issues impacting fab operations. Drive rapid resolution through expert-level troubleshooting and preventive system design improvements. REQUIRED QUALIFICATION: Education Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field. Experience 10–15 years of semiconductor foundry experience with deep involvement in Factory Automation / CIM. Proven hands-on expertise in SiView MES , AMHS , and key CIM applications (APC, FDC, OCAP, RMS, TMS, etc.). Strong background working across Engineering (PIE/YE/EE), Manufacturing, and IT. Experience leading teams and executing complex automation projects in a production fab environment. Skills & Competencies Structured thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Excellent communication and cross-functional stakeholder management. High level of ownership, resilience, and ability to perform in a fast-paced ramp environment. Team-first mindset with proven leadership qualities. Strong understanding of fab workflows, data architecture, interfaces, and SEMI standards. PREFFERED QUALIFICATION: Experience with fab start-up, ramp, or greenfield deployments. Exposure to AI/ML use cases in semiconductor manufacturing. PMP, Lean Six Sigma, or similar certifications. Experience with cloud systems, data lakes, or Industry 4.0 technologies.
