Job Description THE ROLE We’re looking for a Retail Design Specialist to bring the spirit of Bombay Sweet Shop to life — one space, one experience, and one detail at a time. At Hunger Inc. , every brand has its own story. For Bombay Sweet Shop, that story is one of nostalgia, craft, and joy — where traditional Indian mithai meets contemporary design. As Retail Design Specialist, you’ll shape how this story unfolds across our stores, cafés, pop-ups, and new city launches. You’ll work closely with our Associate Creative Director , and the Design and Projects teams , translating our brand ethos into tangible spaces that engage all senses — from the aroma of sweets to the warmth of light and texture. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Lalbaug, Mumbai . WHO WE ARE Bombay Sweet Shop is a part of the Hunger Inc. Hospitality family — alongside The Bombay Canteen, O Pedro, Veronica’s , and Papa’s . We celebrate Indian creativity through food, design, and storytelling , reimagining tradition with a contemporary touch. WHO YOU ARE 2–4 years of experience in retail, hospitality, or experiential design . Degree in Architecture, Interior Design , or a related field. Strong design sensibility with an eye for materiality, detailing, and spatial storytelling . Proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp (or similar 3D software) , and the Adobe Creative Suite . Comfortable developing prototypes and mock-ups to test design ideas. Naturally curious, hands-on, and resourceful — someone who loves being on-site as much as on-screen. A collaborator who can bridge design, brand, and operations seamlessly. WHAT YOU’LL DO Retail Expansion Lead design development for the expansion of Bombay Sweet Shop’s retail and café formats across Mumbai and new cities — creating spaces that feel both rooted and fresh. Spatial Design & Execution Conceptualize, detail, and execute brand spaces in collaboration with internal and external partners — from flagship stores to one-day pop-ups. Materiality & Detailing Use your technical expertise to select materials, finishes, and textures that elevate the brand’s sensorial experience. Brand Experience Design and oversee the visual and spatial experience for pop-ups, exhibitions, and activations , ensuring consistency and delight across all touchpoints. Prototyping & Experimentation Build quick prototypes and layout mock-ups to test ideas before full execution — embracing iteration and experimentation. Research & Inspiration Explore the real world for design references — from crafts and culture to local contexts — that inform authentic, meaningful design directions. Collaboration Work closely with cross-functional teams — from brand and projects to operations and vendors — ensuring timely, seamless delivery of every space.
