The Health and Sanitation Inspector at SRM University - AP is responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy campus by conducting inspections, monitoring hygiene standards, and enforcing sanitation regulations. Their duties include inspecting facilities, checking water and waste management, investigating complaints, and educating the university community on health and safety practices. Key roles and responsibilities Inspections and compliance: Regularly inspect all university premises like hostels, canteens, labs, and common areas to ensure compliance with health, hygiene, and sanitation standards. Hygiene and sanitation monitoring: Supervise cleaning staff, monitor waste disposal, check for vector control (e.G., mosquito breeding), and ensure the proper maintenance of sanitary facilities. Health surveillance: Report any outbreaks of infectious diseases to the university and public health authorities and help implement preventive measures. Quality control: Test water quality, inspect food handling and preparation in canteens, and ensure that other food and health-related services meet required standards. Complaint resolution: Investigate complaints from students, Faculty, and staff regarding unsanitary conditions or health-related issues. Education and awareness: Educate students and staff on best hygiene practices, disease prevention, and other public health topics. Record keeping: Maintain detailed records of inspections, findings, and corrective actions taken. Corrective action: Prepare reports and make recommendations for corrective actions to address any violations or poor sanitary conditions found during inspections. Coordination: Work with other university departments and external government agencies to ensure the overall health and safety of the campus. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: A bachelor's degree is a minimum, with a master's degree in public health (MPH) being highly beneficial for professional roles. EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in health programs, research, or policy development is often required. Technical skills: A strong understanding of biostatistics, and health systems management is essential. Soft skills: Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills are crucial for interacting with diverse groups and managing public health challenges.
