You will lead a team that will create, manage and optimise the data platforms used to power our entire business. We are establishing a greenfield landscape from ground up, partnering with our stakeholders to design, develop and deliver frameworks that underpin our ability to deliver enhanced data solutions with robust controls for our internal customers deriving value for Banks customers. Bring your expertise in building scalable frameworks on cloud platform, with focus on automation and innovation. You will report to the technology leadership within the Chief Data and Analytics Office (CDAO) – Data Platforms. You will work closely with AWS Engineers, Cloud Architects, and other stakeholders across the organization to execute the technology strategy and deliver on the data platform’s objectives. Your Team The Chief Data and Analytics Office (CDAO) – Data Platforms is in place to realise a data-driven organisation for Commonwealth Bank Group. We do this by solving complex problems around data for the business and activating data for strategic and sustained competitive advantage to enhance the financial wellbeing of our customers in a safe, sound and secure way. As we embark on our cloud journey, the team is focussed towards building robust data processing frameworks for the bank, enabling secure and seamless data processing for our tenants in simplified and automated way. Your skills and experience 14+ years of relevant experience in data engineering. Proven Experience in building Enterprise Level Data Platforms using AWS services (EMR, Glue, S3,Lambda, Athena, Redshift, Kinesis, streaming, MWAA etc.) Strong expertise in Pyspark and EMR. Proficiency in Unix Shell scripting, Python scripting, and PL/SQL. People management experience with previous experience in playing leadership roles within data engineering chapter and a background of engineering experience. Experience implementing large scale self-service enterprise data platforms highly desirable Experience in building scalable frameworks on cloud platforms, with a focus on automation and innovation. Exposure to Big Data technologies (Hadoop, Hive) and dynamic ingestion processes. Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices is desirable. Experience mentoring junior developers and participating in design sessions and code reviews. Knowledge of data quality frameworks and tools such as Terraform is a plus. Skilled at driving a strategy of creating a best-in-class AWS based cloud based data platform. Your responsibilities Be hands-on with development of AWS services to build Data platforms which covers end-to-end functionalities like Ingestion, transform, orchestration, observability etc. Colloborate with Product Owners and Principal engineers to drive product architecture, technology and delivery. Ready to execute state-of-the-art coding practices, driving high quality outcomes to solve core business objectives and minimise risks. Natural leaders that drive a culture where quality, excellence and openness are championed. Good at identifying technology limitations and deficiencies in existing systems and associated platforms to develop scalable and sustainable long-term solutions. Able to drive data transformational projects, creating a positive leadership impact within the crews by encouraging diversity of thoughts, to uplift the chapter’s overall technical capability. Are comfortable working across the full lifecycle of agile projects (ideation through implementation). Have experience in implementation of data platforms at Enterprise level. Have come up with innovative engineering solutions to large and complex problems. Are highly experienced in design and development of Data Platforms and associated cloud technologies. Have a strong track record of being able to provide both thought leadership and support with hands on engineering work. Have a demonstrated automation and self-service first approach to problems. Education qualification Bachelor’s degree (or Master’s degree) in Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Technology.
