Job Overview: The Legal Manager will be the primary legal liaison for the office, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, protecting intellectual property rights, managing contracts, and mitigating legal risks. The role requires strong expertise in media and entertainment law, copyright/IP protection, and contract negotiations, specifically within the music and entertainment industry. Key Responsibilities: 1. Contract Management & Negotiation Draft, review, and negotiate agreements related to artists, labels, distribution, licensing, partnerships, endorsements, and other commercial activities. Ensure compliance with industry-specific legal frameworks and best practices in contract execution. Handle disputes and contractual obligations effectively. Create contract management system and maintain the database Regular filing and updation of the database online and offline both. Following up with vendors for closure of contracts 2. Intellectual Property (IP) & Compliance Advise on copyright laws, trademark protection, and licensing for music and multimedia content. Manage rights clearance for music, videos, and other entertainment-related content. Monitor and address potential IP infringements, including piracy and unauthorized use of content. 3. Regulatory & Compliance Ensure adherence to local and international entertainment and media laws and developments. Stay updated on legal trends impacting the music industry, including digital streaming regulations, royalty collection, and content distribution laws. Support the company’s compliance with labor laws, data protection laws, and industry regulations. 4. Dispute Resolution & Litigation Support Provide legal guidance on disputes, including contract breaches, copyright claims, and artist-management conflicts. Coordinate with external legal counsel on litigation, arbitration, and mediation processes. 5. Risk Management & Policy Development Identify potential legal risks and recommend proactive strategies to mitigate them. Develop and implement internal legal policies and frameworks to ensure smooth operation of business. Key Skills & Qualifications: Law degree (LLB/LLM) with a focus on media and entertainment, IP, and contract law. Significant work experience, preferably in the music or entertainment industry. Strong knowledge of copyright law, content licensing agreements, and digital media regulations and guidelines. Excellent negotiation, drafting, and contract management skills. Ability to work cross-functionally with teams including A&R, finance, marketing, and operations. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Preferred Experience: Worked with music labels, talent agencies, production houses, or media/ entertainment platforms. Experience dealing with PROs (Performance Rights Organizations) and royalty structures. Understanding of digital streaming platforms, sync licensing, and international content distribution laws. Work Experience Required : 2-3 years
