Job Title : Duty Medical Officer (DMO)
Job Summary :
The Duty Medical Officer (DMO) is responsible for providing medical care to patients during off-hours, ensuring that medical emergencies are managed appropriately, and assisting with general medical needs in a healthcare facility. The DMO works as part of a team of healthcare professionals, providing treatment, diagnosis, and support to patients across a variety of medical conditions.
Key Responsibilities :
Medical Care :
- Provide immediate medical care and treatment to patients during evening, night, and weekend shifts.
- Diagnose and treat a range of common and emergency medical conditions.
- Monitor the condition of patients, provide ongoing treatment, and coordinate with other specialists when needed.
Emergency Response :
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies and critical situations (e.g., accidents, heart attacks, respiratory distress).
- Ensure proper triage and prioritize cases based on the severity of conditions.
- Stabilize patients and make decisions on hospitalization or other medical interventions as required.
Patient Assessment & Diagnosis :
- Conduct initial assessments of patients, including medical history, physical examination, and diagnostic testing.
- Provide appropriate treatment based on clinical findings and patient needs.
Medical Record Keeping :
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for all patients seen during the shift.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, policies, and confidentiality requirements.
Collaboration & Coordination :
- Work in coordination with nursing staff, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective patient care.
- Consult with senior medical staff and specialists as required for complex cases.
- Report significant cases or emergencies to the senior medical team for further action.
Medication Management :
- Prescribe medications as necessary, ensuring that dosages and drug interactions are correctly managed.
- Provide instructions to patients regarding medication usage and potential side effects.
Patient Education :
- Educate patients and their families on medical conditions, treatment plans, and preventive measures.
- Provide guidance on post-care and follow-up appointments, if needed.
Adherence to Policies and Standards :
- Adhere to the organization’s medical protocols, patient care policies, and infection control standards.
- Ensure the proper use of medical equipment and resources during shifts.
On-Call Availability :
- Be available for on-call duties during evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays as per the shift schedule.
- Be ready to respond to any medical emergencies that arise during the duty hours.
Skills and Qualifications :
- Education : MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery)
- License/Certification : Valid medical license to practice medicine in the respective region or country.
- Experience :
- Freshers or Recent Passed Out
- Minimum 0-2 years of clinical experience in a hospital or healthcare setting.
- Experience in emergency care or general medicine is preferred.
- Technical Skills :
- Proficiency in using medical equipment and performing common diagnostic procedures.
- Knowledge of medical software for patient record management (e.g., Electronic Health Records systems).
- Soft Skills :
- Excellent decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients and medical staff.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations calmly and efficiently.
