Job Title: Senior NAS Data Storage EngineerExperience: 5-10 yrs

At Calfus, we are looking for a Senior Data Storage Engineer to join our Product & Platform Engineering team. As a Senior Data Storage Engineer, you will be responsible for:

Data Migration Tool Architecture, Design, Development to:

Discover, classify and migrate workloadsEnsure speed, security and integrity of moving unstructured data, and ensuring end-to-end chain of custodyMaintain visibility and control over dataHands-on experience in enterprise data centers or cloud-based environments, managing complex storage infrastructures.NAS System Design and Architecture assessment towards:

Deep understanding of NAS architecture for various workloads and interoperability with data migration solutions (e.g., file storage, media streaming, virtualization, backup solutions).Developing high quality code for data migration toolsSecurity and Compliance for:

Implementing and management of security controls & data protection, including access control, encryption & authentication mechanisms on NAS systems.Log capture for review and audit compliance in-line with regulations such as GDPR, HIPAA, or other relevant standards.Performance Optimization:

Work with IT & Professional Services teams to optimize NAS performance for specific applications, databases, and workloads.Vendor and Partner Liaison:

Work with Calfus client teams as a SME on NAS, Storage and Data Migration.

Soft Skills:Collaborate with engineers and mentoring junior storage engineers in the teamManaging stakeholder expectations with Calfus clients and within Calfus teamsHelping breakdown requirements and coding with the team where necessaryClear communication with cross-functional teams and non-technical stakeholders.Experience in managing storage projects, from design through implementation.

Technical skills we are looking for:

NAS Expertise:

In-depth knowledge of NAS systems, particularly from leading vendors such as NetApp, Dell EMC.Familiarity with NAS protocols like NFS (Network File System), SMB/CIFS (Server Message Block/Common Internet File System), and iSCSI.Understanding of distributed file systems and clustered NAS for scaling storage systems.Strong skills in performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and tuning for NAS systems.

Storage Technologies & Migration tools:

Strong knowledge of SAN (Storage Area Network) and DAS (Direct Attached Storage) technologies.Familiarity with RAID configurations, data deduplication, compression, and thin provisioning.Experience with storage virtualization (vSAN, Hyper-V) hyperscale’s (AWS FxX, Google Cloud Volumes) and cloud storage integration (AWS, Azure & GCP)Familiarity with network optimization for NAS (e.g., jumbo frames, multipathing, failover strategies).Familiarity with tools like ROBOCOPY, RSYNC, VNX-Replicator ( are a plus) Planning

for reliable data migrationExperience with cloud migration strategies and working with cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud (e.g., migrating to AWS S3, Azure Blob Storage, or Google BigQuery).Familiarity with hybrid cloud models, where data is transferred between on-premises and cloud systems.

Security and Compliance: Deep knowledge of data security practices, including encryption (at rest and in transit), access control mechanisms, and secure authentication.Experience implementing and maintaining data compliance standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, or PCI-DSS.Performance Optimization:Maximizing transfer rates without impact to network performance

Work Environment

Experience working in environments with large-scale storage systems, including high availability (HA) and disaster recovery setups.This role is typically in

enterprise environments

like financial services, healthcare, or technology companies where data storage is mission critical.Closely with IT leadership to design long-term storage strategies and provide critical input during major infrastructure decisions
