Part Time Investment Analyst - Family Office Asset Management (With Track to Full Time)

Position Overview

The Investment Analyst is responsible for conducting in-depth research and analysis of Indian equity markets to support investment decisions. This role requires a combination of financial acumen, analytical skills, and market knowledge to identify profitable investment opportunities and manage existing portfolios.

Key Responsibilities

1. Tracking Current Portfolio

- Monitor and analyze the performance of existing equity investments

- Prepare regular reports on portfolio performance, including risk metrics and return analysis

- Identify potential risks and opportunities within the current portfolio

- Recommend portfolio rebalancing strategies based on market conditions and company performance

2. Generating New Ideas

- Conduct market research to identify emerging trends and potential investment opportunities

- Develop and maintain a pipeline of investment ideas across various sectors

- Analyze macroeconomic factors and their potential impact on different industries and companies

- Attend industry conferences and company presentations to gather insights and generate new investment theses

3. Sourcing and Evaluation

- Develop and maintain a network of industry contacts, including company management, competitors, and industry experts

- Screen potential investment opportunities using quantitative and qualitative methods

- Conduct preliminary analysis of target companies, including business model evaluation and competitive positioning

- Prepare investment proposals for promising opportunities, including risk assessment and potential returns

4. Deep Dive Sectorial Research

- Specialize in one or more sectors of the Indian equity market (e.g., IT, pharmaceuticals, consumer goods)

- Conduct comprehensive analysis of sector dynamics, including regulatory environment, competitive landscape, and growth drivers

- Develop and maintain detailed sector models to forecast industry trends and company performance

- Prepare in-depth sector reports and present findings to the investment team

5. Financial Modeling

- Build and maintain detailed financial models for target companies and current portfolio holdings

- Forecast company financials, including revenue, expenses, and cash flows

- Conduct valuation analysis using various methodologies (e.g., DCF, comparable company analysis, sum-of-the-parts)

- Perform sensitivity analysis to assess the impact of key variables on company valuation and investment thesis

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or related field; MBA or CFA preferred

- 1-3 years of experience in equity research, investment banking, or related field

- Strong understanding of Indian equity markets, accounting principles, and valuation methodologies

- Excellent financial modeling and analytical skills

- Proficiency in financial software and databases (e.g., Bloomberg, FactSet, Capital IQ)

- Superior written and verbal communication skills

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
