What the role is all about: The purpose of the Commercial Data team in Advertising is to develop leading property and market data insights to power Real Commercial products. This squads sits in the Real Commercial tribe, the #1 place for commercial property and data in Australia. We're seeking an experienced Engineer (2-4 years’ experience) who thrives in a collaborative environment, enjoys being hands-on tackling technical challenges and leading teams to deliver innovative solutions. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across the globe, leading the design, development, and optimization of features to ensure high-quality, scalable solutions that deliver exceptional user experiences. The Engineer role has key strategic importance and visibility within the business. This is a unique role that will focus on delivering thought leadership in advertising technologies, designing innovative solutions, and helping teams leverage this to produce world class advertising products. This is your chance to work on impactful projects that drive customer satisfaction and company growth. You'll work with cutting-edge technologies alongside talented individuals from diverse backgrounds, fostering a dynamic and collaborative environment. While no two days are likely to be the same, your typical responsibilities will include: Write, test, and maintain clean, efficient, and reliable code. Support development of data pipelines, models, and APIs. Troubleshoot issues and participate in debugging, monitoring, and performance improvements. Collaborate with cross-functional team members to deliver on business needs. Contribute to documentation and follow REA engineering standards. We are looking for someone with: Well-versed in SQL, Python, ETL / ELT pipelines Experience with Data modelling Experience with Data pipelines Experience with Data consumption Experience with Data analysis and documentation Experience with Data warehousing Advanced skills in designing solutions that scale and perform for millions of users. Advanced skills in developing long-term system architecture strategies. Experience with modern software development techniques (e.g. functional programming, microservice architecture, test-driven development and CI/CD) Able to communicate and collaborate effectively with business stakeholders. Able to understand business, customer and consumer needs to provide appropriate data solutions. Able to mentor other engineers in a collaborative agile team environment. Someone passionate about data and the latest data technologies. Good awareness of TDD, CI/CD approaches and tools. Bonus Points for: Experience Big Query / PostgreSQL / MSSQL, Python libraries (Pandas, Requests, JSON), Docker, Kafka, Linux shell scripting, Git / GitHub, AWS (S3, Lambda, IaC), Airflow, Interacting with REST APIs What we offer: A hybrid and flexible approach to working.
