The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of construction detailing and materials, along with up-to-date knowledge of industry products, standards, and building regulations.The role involves designing technically accurate and detailed drawings that meet architectural intent while remaining practical and easy to interpret for fabrication and installation teams. You will work closely with clients, architects, and manufacturers, acting as a key technical liaison throughout the design and development process.Key Responsibilities:Develop accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawings for a variety of glazing and cladding systems, including curtain walling, rainscreen facades, aluminium systems, and bespoke solutions.Interpret architectural and structural drawings to produce detailed shop and fabrication drawings.Ensure all designs are compliant with current building regulations, codes of practice, and industry standards.Liaise with Estimating Department to ensure material does not exceed budgeted costs.Value Engineer design where possible, without compromising on quality.Liaise and coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, clients, and product manufacturers to ensure design feasibility, compliance, and efficiency.Translate complex architectural concepts into clear, logical, and simplified fabrication drawings suitable for manufacturing and site installation.Research and incorporate the latest glazing and cladding products, systems, and innovations into design solutions.Revise designs based on feedback from stakeholders, ensuring all updates are documented and communicated.Assist with the preparation of technical submittals, schedules, and design reports where required.Maintain drawing registers and ensure accurate document control.Requirements:Essential:Proven experience as a CAD Designer or CAD Technician in the glazing and/or cladding sector.Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD (2D essential, 3D desirable). Knowledge of Revit, SolidWorks, or other design tools is an advantage.Familiarity with aluminium façade systems, curtain walling, rainscreen cladding, and other envelope solutions.Good understanding of UK Building Regulations, CWCT standards, and façade performance requirements (thermal, structural, fire, acoustic, etc.).Excellent technical drawing skills with a strong attention to detail.Effective communication and interpersonal skills – confident working with architects, engineers, clients, and manufacturers.Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines under pressure.Proactive and solution-oriented mindset.Desirable:HNC/HND or degree in Construction, Architectural Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.On-site or fabrication experience in glazing/cladding is a plus.Knowledge of BIM processes and coordination.Ability to manage a team of CAD designers
